quick question - standby on codeshare flights?

i'm trying to get out of SLC to EWR earlier than my 1135pm redeye tomorrow, but most of the options are CO codeshare flights operated by DL/NW to one of their hubs, then on to EWR on CO metal... maybe this is just my sleep-deprived brain not thinking straight, but can i fly standby given that it's CO codeshare but they're not operating the flight? thanks...

No. If you're on the CO flight, you can standby for CO flights only.

DL does not allow standby, though they offer same day confirmed. But they'll only do that if you're on one of their flights in the first place.
