Hi Box. Busy day here. Met our realtor friend for breakfast this morning and discussed our options on our condo. Looks like we'll probably end up renting it for at least a year, although there's a possibility we might be able to get it sold fairly quickly. He has one client he is going to call about it, since she's looking to have something under contract before April 30.

This afternoon we started packing. At least 15 boxes are already done, with most of the bookshelves in the living room now empty, and the kitchen is about a third packed.

Budget has been figured out and we've sent in the application and paid a hold fee for an apartment on Massachusetts Avenue in DC.

Finally, CarMax came back with an awesome offer on my car. We'll be taking it to them tomorrow to sell it. I'll get about $750-1,000 less there than we would get selling it ourselves, but it's also completely no hassle, and all I have to do is show up, sign some paperwork, and turn over the information on my loan so they can cut a payoff check to the loan company and pay me the difference. Not having to deal with showing the car ourselves is worth the reduction in price. Additionally, the registration for my car expires April 30, and if we didn't have it sold by then, I'd have to pay about $275 to register it and keep it legal until we did sell it. So, that makes getting it sold tomorrow at CarMax that much more appealing, since I won't have to deal with paying the annual registration fee.

Things here are busy but so far we're making good progress. Should be moving three weeks from today.

I was going to suggest Carmax when you posted about selling your car the other day but forgot about it. Glad it all worked out, and I'd take the $1000 cut when you're still making money just to be done with it any day of the week. ^

SFO Terminal Question

Do I need to re-clear security going from Terminal 3 to the International Terminal?

NO. There is a bridge walkway. Just ask someone for directions.

Getting excited about your trip yet? Are you done packing? Got your passport in plain sight? Set your alarm for the correct wake-up time?

Absolutely. I can’t wait to get to HKG. I have one more miserable 8-hour shift tomorrow, 4-midnight and then a nap for a few hours before heading to JFK for my 6am flug.

I am not looking forward to the 28-hour travel time though. JFK-SFO-ICN-HKG, Thankfully all in F :-:

Almost. I will work on organizing it all tomorrow before I go to work. It looks like I am able to get everything in my 22” rollaboard and duffle. ^

Of course. I had a slight scare when the s/o told me to check my visa. Apparently, one of the people in the group did not follow directions and only applied for a double entry visa and not a multiple entry visa. He thought it was an error by the Chinese embassy and had me check my visa, but I followed direction so my visa was right. Now this person in the group has to stay in Guangzhou ALONE for two day while we travel back to Hong Kong for a meeting and a tour.

Hong Kong is a ton of fun. The sights, the smells, the sounds and the shopping are fantastic. If you wear glasses, take your prescription with you so that you can get really cool frames for almost nothing. baglady and Plus1 know where to go-same day service.

3 alarms-that's one more than I have. ^

I had a great time in HKG last time. I loved it. For this trip, I had the s/o bring an extra expandable bag for all the stuff we are going to buy . Not soo excited about Guangzhou. I would skip that if I could, but I don't want to stay in HKG alone for 3 days :-:

Not sure about Shanghai though, I forgot to buy a guide book
I don't think we will have much free time in PVG. I know they are taking us to the worlds expo and they have some tours lined up for us.

I am planning in meeting baglady and her man meat in HKG for drinks one night

Last time I was in Shanghai they were still spitting in the streets, wearing Mao outfits and the only place to shop was at the Number One Department Store. LOL. Our hotel room had no keys so the "boy" had to let us into our rooms every time we went out.

That was back in the early 80s and boy has the city changed. I'm sure your hotel will have plenty of guide books for you to look at. Or ask your FAs where to go.

I can only imagine the hotel they are putting us up in. We are staying one night longer on our own and I made a res for us at the Westin Bund Center in Shanghai so I can cash in on their amazon $100 gift card promo.

Apparently the box is our own private teen chat line tonight :-:

jrzyshawn Apr 24, 2010 10:33 pm

I am tired, but I am waiting for teh s/o to call from HKG.

jrzyshawn Apr 24, 2010 10:42 pm

I can't stay awake any longer. Night all.

Our local pizza places aren't the best, but they're at least the local pizza place.

Mama's was good. But, before I moved to Bala, I lived in the city - barely in the city. So, I ordered from here. Not only did I order from there, but when my employer ordered pizza for whatever occasion, they ordered from Chris's as well.^
