I really dislike the night shift. I am catching up on some 24 episodes though.

I've now had 4 tonsillitis infections since January 2009, including 1 peritonsillar abscess that required removal under general anesthesia, but still not enough for doc to take 'em out.

There will be some more cancellations than before, yes, but I'm quite confident that after an initial introductory period (this spring and summer), airlines will develop and implement practices that facilitate keeping their planes/pax moving such that the likelihood of even approaching the threshold will actually be less than it is today. There's no incentive to incur the fines, and there's little incentive to mass cancel as a response to every adverse event, either.

Government took a very minor step, and I'm confident that once airline execs stop rolling around on the floor and bawling over the new rules, market forces will move them to run a better operation. Heck, one area would be in better oversight of regional partners during significant irrops -- quite a few of the recent incidents involved regional partners making bumblefick decisions.

Took UA precisely one week to refund my fully-refundable ticket - still have never received the requested cancellation confirmation, was only told "the trip is canceled and you won't see it in your profile anymore" :rolleyes:

I can understand why some people are happy with the move by the Feds. I'm just not one of them and I think they (both the feds and those sated by this move) are being myopic and not seeing the bigger picture.
