I'm only about 10 minutes from the Marriott it sounded like you'd be staying at, so let me know and I should be able to make it!

I will take you up on that as soon as I get settled in!

BTW... what are these "bonus check" thingies I keep hearing about?

I haven't worked in a company for a while that paid bonuses, but this company has been conservative with keeping expenses under control while being aggressive with growing and expanding, even in this economy.

Thank you, everyone. Now I don't feel so bad about buying those B-fares for our little trip to PHX to see some baseball next week :)

Good Morning, Box.

Just horrible, but so glad eveyone is OK.

What is the deadline to return the form before they send out the Men in Black? I'm going to have a month's worth of mail to go through when I get home next week.

Same here. Received the census on Monday, filled it out, put it in my outgoing mail box, and it was picked up on Tuesday. I wonder how many people Houston and Texas will gain. I wonder how many people NJ and other states in the northeast lost.

I'd be surprised if NJ actually lost population. I remember reading a projection last year our population would cross the nine million mark in the 2010 Census, which would be an increase of nearly 600k, even taking into account the current economic situation.

Yes. Back in Perth now. Am going to head out for a late lunch, some beer, and a souvenir hunt.

Bring us back something nice.

True. Or Baton Rouge.

You can add Beaumont and Port Arthur to that list as well. They're starting to filter back into my schedule again.

I feel your pain. My upcoming Tokyo trip marks the end of my international travel for a while. Our new roll out will take me to some of the less desirable domestic destinations, although there are plenty of good ones mixed in there too.

So I have some good news to share with you all... the promotion came through (in writing), which brought with it a substantial raise :) And,in the same letter, I got the figure for the 2009 bonus - I was stunned at the amount (more than double what I was told it would be). All-in-all, a pretty good week in that regards. :)

And it looks like I'll be traveling to NJ at least for the next four weeks, so hopefully once I get into a groove, I'll see if we can arrange for drinks somewhere.

Happy Friday! :-:

Congrats and good luck, and I look forward to hopefully meeting you. Although I too am baffled by this "bonus" concept. :p

I think it's just a 'sooner rather than later' thing (they ask who's living at the home as of April 1). But they say that even if you send in a form, you can still get a visit by the MIB for "quality control" purposes.

I filled out and returned the form but a census taker visited my home anyway.
Quality checks are used to assure our procedures are working and that our staff is doing the job they were assigned to do. These checks require that some households be visited more than once. Additionally, if you returned your form late, your response might not be logged before a census taker is sent out.

I believe you can't outright transfer them. You may have to check in for someone and then leave.

I love it when people pester me all morning to make sure I'm at their dumb meeting and then they don't show up to start it on time.

Good morning Box. Getting ready for PTY/MEX this weekend after a gig tonight. Trying to empty the DVR a bit before I leave since after landing back at JFK on Monday, I have ZFV-CLE-SDF and will be away most of the week for work.

Happy Friday and congrats on various milestones, promotions, etc.

Is there anything saying that I have to answer the door if they stop by? We sent in our form and I don't have much interest in doing anything beyond that.

Great news! Congratulations!!

On another note, someone tells me that it's supposed to be warmer this weekend up in the northeast compared to teh Pit. Low 70s forecast vs. Brrr down here. You all in the northeast deserve the warm weather considering what you've been through. My buddy says some of the spring dresses on the women are coming out in Center City.^ Wish I was there to see it!
