When I asked the GA on a recent flight from LHR to EWR if I could speak to the concierge she said "they're at the transfer desk after you clear customs and drop off your bag." I don't need hand holding through customs, but seriously? Sitting behind that nasty desk in the baggage hall after customs does not really telegraph "we're here to help."

They usually seem like nice people.

The one time I needed help, I got nothing. Had a BF ticket from EWR to EZE and back for work. While I was in Buenos Aires my wife, 8 mos pregnant, starting to have some significant issues and had to be hospitalized. Needless to say I wanted to get home as soon as possible. Paid a nice large change fee to get BF to EWR on the next flight that evening.

The BF Concierge was a female who basically flirted with the latin pax. I asked her to ensure that I was on the first flight from IAH to EWR, explained to her wife in hospital in bad shape, don't care if I am standby on coach, no checked baggage, etc.--just some sort of advance handling so I can get home as soon as possible.

She did nothing. I got to watch people who got on by standby to the first IAH-EWR flight--luckily I found a gate agent who took care of me on the next flight (and managed to get me into a first seat that had just opened).

While I am sure most BF concierges are good people, the female one in Buenos Aires is a useless waste of space.

Had asked for a shower room upon arrival in MUC. Couldn't find Concierge upon arrival.

I fail to understand what service Concierges provide and what exactly they do.

I wish they would just leave me alone. Can't count the number of times I have been asked out to dinner by them, both female and male. And I prefer to shower alone thank you

The BF concierge is alive an well at IAH, called me at the pclub (who then paged me) to ask me to swap from 8L to some awful seat. :td:

Seriously??? If this is true :td::td::td::td:!

WHY would CO even think of asking a BF customer to change seats!?!?!

Few years back when flying IAH-LGW in BF, the concierge greeted me and told me my then NW WP no. was in the reservation. I said, "Thanks". That is all.;):D

Safe Travels

Their main job seems to be to advise you (at departure) to direct your request to the concierge at arrival who you will never find. I recently flew EWR-HKG-EWR and never saw one once. I'm used to being asked to join Onepass, etc.

Their strong points seem to be helping people with OA connections.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark..... Because they wanted to switch the seats so people could sit together? Same reason anyone ever asks that of anyone ever. :)

I assume she was at the destination.

My last flight in BF, TLV-EWR last week, I had 8B, and was asked if I could switch with 10B. Older man who needed to be close to the bathroom. I had no problem. (Guy sitting next to me though, 8A wouldn't, so in the end, no switch, because he wanted to be next to his wife.)

He was going to see his wife. She was already there.

He was in paid BF, travelling alone. He's pretty much the definition of the kind of passenger the airline should be bending over backward to accommodate, as opposed to a family of 4 on award tickets making unreasonable demands.

Might be because the seat in question (8L) is a bassinet seat.
