CO Mainline returns to BNA

Well… Only for a day!

CO163 EWR-BNA and CO1467 BNA-EWR on 16 JUN will be operated by a 737-500. It’s only in the schedule for one day as far as I can tell. Can anyone tell me why? Is there something special going on in Nashville that day?

Day and Date: Sat., Jun. 16, 2007
Flight: CO163
Arrive: Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty), 2:30 p.m.
Depart: Nashville, TN (BNA), 3:58 p.m.
Aircraft: Boeing 737-500

This appears to be the first scheduled mainline flight to BNA in a long time.

Maybe they oversold the RJ by 70 seats?

I'd say you've got a group onboard that's well over standard RJ capacity.

I vaguely remember seeing/reading some sort of event, maybe concert-type, held in Nashville that may account for the special flight.

Question? Could a one time 735 on this route be due to storms/cancellations and an easy solution to get passengers to final destinations and reposition a plane was to fly a 735 to BNA?

Yes, in the rare circumstance one is available, but even more rarely, not this far in advance. This 737 service in BNA has a group booking that exceeds RJ capacity.

If it was to resolve a weather issue it almost certainly wouldn't be on the schedule; CO isn't that good at predicting when storms will blow through. They've actually sent in a 753 to clean out ORD after a long night of cancellations due to weather issues, as reported in this thread.

And the flight is on Saturday, June 16, according to the CO timetable.
