Last night I tried to check in for a flight tonight. It took me through the normal process, I selected a new seat (exit row), did not receive the standard exit row seating warning Accept/Decline, and now I get the "We are unable to complete the check-in process at this time. Please proceed to the airport for assistance." error message. CO.com support does not see anything wrong with the itinerary, or the flight (not full or oversold).
Anyone else having problems? Now that I've been on hold, CO.com says the airport has taken control of the flight because it's a holiday weekend. CO.com support "called Houston" and they could not resolve it.
I guess the message is get to the airport early!

Do you have any reason to think you have been SSSSelected for SSSSpecial SSSSecurity SSSSilliness?

Interesting...
I didn't have any problems checking in last night, and I switched seats to an exit row as well. I'm flying out of EWR, so maybe its an airport problem? Did you try checking in using the conformation number instead of onepass? I had that problem one time.

I checked in for a flight this morning online (out of EWR), had no problems at all. Switched myself into an exit row, got the usual accept/decline message and everything. All went well, which is fortunate since I couldn't otherwise view the flight info online up until today.

No reason to suspect SSSSelection - would CO.com support see that?.
This is the trip home (IAH-PDX) from a normal round trip ticket. I tried checking in using OP number and conf number. I think the weird part is that it doesn't give me the Accept/Decline for the exit row. CO.com support said everything is fine with the intinerary, and that the airport has probably taken control early because it's a holiday weekend. So, I guess it's just the friendly folks at PDX?

Tried again (for like the 12th time) and finally was able to check in. Sequence was 6, so I would surmise that nobody could check in today.

Yeah I would guess it was isolated to this flight, or possibly CO at PDX.

Post mortem
The flight ended up being oversold, and they asked for 2 volunteers after we boarded. I was intrigued, because when I checked in there were probably a dozen or better open seats in coach.

Not wanting to highjack the thread, but on a related issue, I can't check my two CO itins. They both originate in PDX. I tried last night and just now and it says "error." The trip isn't until next month, but I just wanted to look at things. Anyone know what's up?

CO.com is still having problems displaying some itineraries. There's another thread on that.

Duke777 - try logging out and back in. That has sometimes helped me.
