Something going on in Scotland?
Finding very spotty award availability to/from Scotland/UK for late March early April. Is there some festival or event on? In fact the EDI and GLA -EWR flights for Monday, April 2 are pretty much sold out in Y? I make this trip around this time each year and you can usually pick any flight you want for an award in J or Y all the way into mid May even if you wait until the last minute to book it.

It is probably just traffic from the schools Easter break. Different areas have different times so the load can be spread out over two to three weeks. It is also a very popular route.

Things must be good in the UK. I never went to Europe for Spring Break (Easter) when I was in school in the US...

World Championships for Irish dance April 1-8
Loads of US dancers heading over to Glasgow next week. Many opting to fly to EDI and take train the rest of the way. Watch for the funny shaped dance bags trying to fit in the overhead bins as no one will risk checking a $1500+ dress.

In the past couple of years CO allocated just one additional aircraft to the route for the summer and the flights were shared between Glasgow (3) and Edinburgh(4)
This year CO have allocated TWO additional aircraft one of which will operate 4 out of seven days to GLA (increase of one on last year I think) while Edinburgh goes double daily throughout the summer. Increase of 3 flights a week on last year.

It is 4 flights a week more than the standard seasonal increase.

Still shocking to me to see the EDI and GLA-EWR flts. sold out in Y around the start of April....not even sleazy pass available in Y. Never seen that even in during the height of summer.

Easter Sunday is April 8. Passover starts during the week before. Lots of kids are on vacation. There's a big festival in Scotland. All that combined results in no seats.

I believe the extra flights (2x day to EDI, and 11/week to GLA) are loaded in the schedule at least through October.....

Easter break is likely the culprit. We usually got a good three-week break 'round Easter from Uni, which was quite welcome after the vile winters had their way with us.

On my VS flight a few months ago, the FAs were talking about how they love New York and San Francisco because they're so cheap.
