I check in before she does, because she beats me on the EUA tie breaker (last name).

Yup, me too, back in the good old days.

I've met various people on flights who rolled their own automated check-in. Generally, their line of work was filled with related web acronyms, so this was a simple exercise. The web site service isn't unique. Reminds me of the best critique of Henry Miller, "He had sex in the afternoon, and he thought he invented it."

These days, there are plenty of plats who bought the lowest available fare. I frequently compare notes in the "on deck" row (14 on a 738) and the other plats are on my fare, and we upgrade in sequence order.

Thus, checking in on a connect from e.g. Bradley International Airport gets an earlier sequence number going transcon from EWR, and it makes a huge difference, though not enough of one to make it worth living up there...

These days, on routes like EWR-IAH in the afternoon, it won't matter even if a Gold Elite gets a Seq 1 (like when checking in 24 hours before departing the first 15-hr flight from HKG). Still impossible to get upgraded.

Anyone here tried any of these services? I'd hate to be the first one...

I've given it a shot for my flight tomorrow. I'm still going to check in myself, but I want to see if the automated tool does it as well.

You're definitely not the first one to use the service, though.

There was an article in USA Today a few months ago about this... Someone set up a sniping BP printing site for Southwest -- so you could get in the 'A' group easier. Southwest went after them and had the site taken down. I don't know if CO and others care so much (since there's very little advantage to being #1 vs #20 these days). I mean, who gets upgraded anymore? The last time I saw anything other than an RJ on CO was on a 5+ hour flight.

And a lot of the RJs are being downgraded to B1900s!

Never thought I'd be begging for the Dash 8s.

Result:

It checked me in 1 hour and 1 minute after I was eligible.

I'm betting its a DST bug.

To bring this thread back on topic, what SEQ# did you get?
