Using OP miles on partner

How would I use my OP miles on say Alitalia or Aeroflot? Both are partner airlines and both have flight to/from places (Moscow, JFK, etc.) less used by CO. Any advice? Do I need to join the partner's program, too?

To travel on SkyTeam partners, you simply need to contact CO OP Reward Desk. 800.621.7467 (7:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Central Time). You do not have to be a member of the partner FFP. I would suggest doing some research about the flights and dates you might be interested in and try to determine if seats are available.

Look at CO.com first and then check this site, it is pretty comprehensive.

With that data call the Reward Desk and see what they have available.

Good Luck!!

You can go to Skyteam website to search the route you are looking for. It's quite useful. I booked an award travel tickets from IAH-CDG-KBP with CO/Air France combination last year. I actually downloaded the timetable so I can search for route off line.
