Amtrak (ZVE) code share
Can anyone explain why the fares are so high taking the Amtrak code share out of New Haven. If you ask for fares they are generally $700 higher than flying out of Newark. Why would anyone want to do this as the fares are $47 each way on Amtrak from New Haven. Someone in pricing does not understand the situation. Is Continental having any success with the codeshare.
The competition is US AIRWAYS flying from New haven which has a walk up fare to Pittsburgh of $330 round trip. Continental is $1300. YOU can walk up out of EWR for $59 each way....Does not make any sense.

Probably because they don't realize how much business they could get from my firm alone if they were to not mark it up that much. Instead, we just pay the limo service to drive them every time we fly out.

The only EWR-PIT fares I see that are close to that price require 3 or 7 day advance purchases. The $27 each way X fare with a 14 day advance looks nice, though. I think you can route those via CLE for more fun & miles.
