AA actually only gives the system wide upgrades to EXP's, not Plats. You'll find a lively and healthy discussion on this topic on a number of CO threads. NW has just implement SWU's (though you have to fly over 75k to get them); DL has them too, so there is speculation that CO may be the next SkyTeam member to offer them.

Why do people want SWUs from CO? If they ever actually issue them you'll likely end up with pieces of paper with all sorts of restrictions that render them difficult to use. Look at the current "Positive space" upgrade certs that people complain about. How useful are they?

I'd much rather have CO credit EQM over 75k toward status the following year.

I too would like to see excess EQM's roll over; IMHO, it's a no brainer for CO to do that. The carrier might worry that people wouldn't continue to fly on CO, but I see it as a way to create elite-for-a-long-time status!

Exactly -- folks who want lifetime status can fly CO a lot and roll and roll and roll to extend status.
