Future BF upgrade feature on co.com?

Future BF upgrade feature on co.com?
I was checking fares for a RT to europe on co.com after signing in. Selecting economy, I am then able to check the block for a BF award upgrade request and then whether I wish it on the outbound or inbound portion of the RT.
Proceeding, the website then says I must "unselect" the upgrade request and call CO to request the upgrade.
I wonder if this feature will be enabled in the future?
