EUA standby list and requesting upgrade at gate
Hello,
I'm flying from MFE to PHL tomorrow and i just checked in online. My boarding passes say that I've been "Added to First Class standby list." The EUA rules say, "OnePass Elite members unable to upgrade in advance . . . may request an upgrade within two hours of departure at the airport."
These are the same lists, right? I mean, there is nothing for me to gain by requesting an upgrade at the gates at MFE and IAH as I'd just be asking to be put on the list I'm already on, right?
Thank you.

Correct. You are on the list. No need to ask again. If a seat is available and you're next on the list, they will either call you to the podium for a new BP or, more likely, come get you after you are already seated in coach right before they close the door.
Good luck.
Good luck.

CI early
Yes, the days of "rushing to the airport" to get on the standby list have been replaced by "rushing to the website" for OLCI. The early you check in, the better your place on the list within your elite status group.
I always book EXACTLY 24 hours before and are usually in the top few.
And it is much easier to get to the website than the airport. A nice "enhancement".

Yes...seeing Seq 1 on my boarding pass is a joy to behold (except when flying jungle jets).

I thought it was the earlier you check in only after Elite status AND fare class in taken into account?

I don't sweat checking in at 24 hours anymore. If convenient, I do it, but the chance of having multiple plats on the same fare class, and checkin time being the deciding factor is so low, I don't worry about it.
