Winter Storm, 2007 - how is IAH doing?

I know AA has had a thread on this all weekend, focused on delays at DFW. I haven't seen one here, yet. Does anyone know how IAH is coping with the bad weather?

I'm connecting there tomorrow mid-day (from AUS) headed up to the frigid north (MKE) and I'm worried - would love a status update from anyone living there or flying through IAH today. I've been watching the status trackers - but it's not the same as real, live experiences. For me, tomorrow is one of those travel days when I've "gotta get there"!

Thanks for any feedback and good luck to my fellow FTrs who are braving rough travels through this mess. If there are delays aplenty, I hope someone brings a bored <sic> game to the PClub as there won't be enough free cocktails to keep me distracted

Right now, just cold (low 40's) and rainy...tomorrow may be different, but if it gets to freezing tonight, it will likely just barely do so - you "should" be ok.

Continental is advising aircrew that commuting to/from Houston might be problematic starting tonight and into tomorrow, and to plan accordingly.

I just cancelled IAH-MCI for a flight today not because of outbound weather, but coming back to IAH tomorrow will be very risky.

They are calling for freezing rain beginning after midnight tonight and throught most of the day tomorrow. CO customer service (as of 10:00 am CDT) said no re-booking notices have been posted for IAH yet but he expeected something by afternoon.

All you can do is wait and see, I guess.

They won't let me change my IAH-AUS-IAH-LGW routing for later this afternoon; with a very possible WX bump as a result of the AUS-IAH leg getting delayed most likely (the weather is not getting any better here, and they seem to have no other option they are willing to offer - other than deleting that stopover, or delaying the LGW segment). And because its a intl trip that ends after the 20th, the WX exception does not apply. Wish me luck...

I suspect that you'll see a weather waiver plan get activated shortly (no inside info.....just a guess). See if you can't rebook yourself AUS-EWR-LGW....

Good Luck....

All of CO's AUS-EWR for the rest of the day is oversold; if I can't get the 6:55 IAH-EWR, I'm not flying today to LGW. But the PC dragons don't seem to want to do anything about it - they see the fare paid and that's all they will do.

IAH has also been running a 2-3 hour delay for the most part...will likely get worse tonight...already some sleet and snow flurries on the far west side of Houston.

Great info - thx everyone.

I just changed my connection to EWR (great advice doobierw - many thanks!). Looks like they're in better shape for weather tomorrow than IAH.

I got them to drop the IAH-AUS-IAH segments, but they mentioned a refund after the trip is finished - they promised I wouldn't be charged, but ..anyone think this will cause a full reprice? They did note the ice storm in the PNR.

I have a trip tomorrow FLL-IAH-LAX-IAH-FLL. I hope CO will let me re-route to EWR and seats in First are still available for upgrade.

My IAH-SMF flight today was delayed (departure) by about 40 mins.
Lots of late arrivals/departures there this evening.

A/O this evening the forecast for tomorrow is ugly; sleet/rain/freezing rain.
No worries....I'm sure IAH has lot of de-icing trucks.
