Yes. I avoid delta for EXCATLY that reason. (Well, ATL may also have something to do with that... plus only 3 ATL-CRP flights a day on a CRJ). My wife has had 2 "close calls" on NW where she was in fear for her life, including one they rolled emergency equipment at IAH, so we avoid NW as well.

And yes, Texas Y fares help. For $150 more am flying today to OKC in Y which will put me over for Platinum when I return tomorrow.

I'm always making it on points not miles. This year - 86 points and about 55K miles. Will make plat next week.
How is that? I've got 50k+ miles and way lesser points.

How do you do that?

Segment runs have become harder, I find that there are a number of trips that I can take during the year where the difference between a 1 point and a 2 point trip is minimal cost though.

How do you look for that and make it happen?

DL, CO, and NW all compete on the routes I fly and CO is often more expensive than the other two. I spend the extra money because of the segments awarded, and quite often the more expensive price (H or Y fares) I am paying qualifies for double segments.

I know that, at least in theory, segment points can be earned on NW for OnePass elite qualification, but I'm too lazy/dumb to figure which fares are/aren't eligible. I never consider DL because they don't offer segment credit at all, and I am a million-miler and a former Flying Colonel. However, I don't get the impression they particularly miss me.
i never fly DL b/c of no points. i used to fly NW more often when we received points on any fare, but as said above, i dont bother trying to figure out and then price certain NW fare classes just to get points. i fly them a few times a year, b/c i still end up earning enough points with my CO flights.
