two questions

If a platinum elite member makes a reward reservation for a non-elite, does the non-elite traveler have elite access?

Is it possible to call in to get a non-elite traveler to get silver elite status given to them if a flight will make them silver? This would be necessary so that the next flight after the flight that makes her elite she could enjoy elite access.

Just wondering because I've had both done, but it seems that phone agents have no idea what I'm talking about. Was I just lucky those many times?

Sort of not fun talking to agents about these things.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again (call again).

Make sure you're talking to phone agents at the OnePass Service Center (713.952.1630). It sounds like you were talking to reservations agents, because they often have no clue about OnePass.

The non-elite traveler does not get elite access, although they can accompany you down the blue carpet.

The early granting of status has been done. Seems to be case-by-case. As noted above, call back, and make sure you're calling the OPSC. I was successful some years back sending an email to the OPSC. FWIW, I had been silver, lost status, and asked about an early grant for the flight which was going to give me back status. I did note a short connection time at LAX from wn to co and the likelihood of missing the connection w/o access to the elite security line.

elite access?

I'm not real clear on what elite access means. On a recent trip, I (silver) booked online for my wife (silver) and my daughter (no status), and I was able to select seats in the elite section for all three of us. When we got to the airport, I asked about boarding, and the agent said we should board as a family, so my daughter got to board early and walk the blue carpet with us.

Yes, I believe so..I have done it for my father-in-law, and when he prints his boarding pass it says ELITE ACCESS on it..

Not sure about this...
