Flight Release Date

Does anyone know when Continental will release their flight dates for Nov. 2007?

Hi snickers, we begin loading schedules and availability for most Continental flights about 330 days in advance.

Do you know at what time the new date is released? Is it at midnight, or is it the next morning after a certain time?
Also, is it okay to book 2 separate one way trips, if only the departure date is released, instead of waiting for return flight? I'm afraid if I wait for both dates to be available together as roundtrip, the departure airfare will have gone up, because the prices are cheapest as soon as flight info is released.

It depends if the lowest fares in the market have a one-way fare or not.

Typically, the lowest fares are not available 330 days out. Typically those are available either on a sale, or a competitor match, about 30 - 120 days out.

channa is correct. You will almost certainly not get the best price if you purchase 330 days out. Regarding booking two one-way tickets, that depends on whether the fare you are purchasing requires a round-trip purchase. If it does, then two one-way tickets will cost more.

But if it is a peak vacation time, such as Jersey Week, which is what I'm looking for, then the flights tend to be cheaper when they are first released.
I haven't seen the fares go down for that week; they only seem to skyrocket as time goes on.

Jersey Week is the first week in Nov., when most of the schools close for the whole week because of Teacher's Convention and Election Day. Lots of people from New Jersey go to Disney for that week because their kids have no school.

I am getting I-class 330 days out into EWR - you have to plug the dates in manually (not click on the site calendar). The seat map does not come up until 323 days out.

I tried that and it will only go up until Oct. 20,2007, and I need Nov.3.
It seems like it is being incremented by 1 day every day, because yesterday it went up to Oct. 19. I got this when I tried to plug in my dates and got error saying of what date it will actually go up to.

It goes out one day at a time - as you point out, today it is Oct 20th but watch out, fares are usually not loaded properly on the first day.

Also, just because you get an I fare doesn't mean that that the fare basis of that fare will not change.

What do you mean by fares not being loaded properly? Does that mean that the price could be higher than it really should be? If I book at the wrong fare, will I get price adjustment if it is incorrect? Is it better to wait until second day?

Could you explain to me what I fare is, and what you mean by fare basis of the fare changing?
Thanks.

Read above -- it was written, "I am getting I-class 330 days out into EWR" -- Airlines classify fares by letter. In this example the cited "I" fare may be $300 -- but there could be another "I" fare that costs $400 with different restrictions and that has, therefore, a different fare basis (or code). Airline fares change all the time. They are a combination of the fare bucket used and the restrictions imposed.

Fare basis examples (EWR-OAK in this case, but it doesn't matter):

$240 TA14XSBN
$240 TA7SNN
$296 TLAH0LSN

Each of these has different rules/restrictions. All are "T" fares.
