Schedule Changes

Hey Everybody-

The searh tool is down and the Google search didn't yield anything, so here goes: I have a very minor schedule change on one of my upcoming itins. and was wondering what the rules were in regards to changing my tickets. I know from past experience, I can change inbound dates and routings, but can I change the outbound segment to an earlier date?

Also, does anyone know what the routing rules are for SEA-PHL? I tried Expedia, but it got cut off before the routing portion of the rules, and I want to make this into even more of a MR, if possible. Thanks everybody!

I once booked PHL-EWR-IAH-SEA, but that was when CO still flew PHL-EWR. I'd imagine you can still do the same but with an Amtrak segment ZFV-EWR. Routing really depends on the exact fare you booked...

Logic is your best friend in schedule changes.

Can you change your outbound if your inbound was affected? Usually not.

But if you can relate your outbound to your inbound, you can.

Example: Say they make your inbound singificantly earlier. You can say that you wanted to have at least x full days at your destination, and now they really ate into the time, could I take an earlier flight on the outbound too?

As long as it makes sense, and it somewhat related to the change, they'll probably take care of you.

Wait! What's the cost if you booked fresh?

Here's your best bet.

Call up CO and ask for a full refund because of the schedule change. (Make up some story about how you are flying into PHL on SW and the sched change just makes the connection too tight.) They'll have to get a manager, but if you are Elite, you'll likely get it.

Then, after the refund, you simply rebook with the new dates that you want.

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. The date change isn't a huge deal. I just wanted to lengthen the trip.

That wouldn't really work due to the fact that I'm booked in the lowest fare bucket and there aren't other flights available with in the days prior. Plus it's only a change in times by a couple of minutes on the outbound sector.
