Are you sure it's not the Y-fare that's bringing you to the front of the list?

And how did you find out that juicy little nugget of information regarding CO *?

Has nothing to do with star status. It's because you are plat and on a Y fare that trumps the other plats. I'm star-struck myself and don't trump others on the standby list.

CoStars are Continental’s best customers, based on annual revenue contribution.
Continental Technology has centralized all customer databases into the Customer Information Systems (CIS), allowing reports and tools to have one source of customer information. This technology supports tools that:

Tell us how much customers spend per year and ranks them accordingly
Predict how likely a customer is to continue flying on Continental or defect to another airline based upon service events and frequency of travel
Provide information such as the GM Report, the Concierge Report and the Inflight Report, to name a few, for all customer contact employees

By focusing on our most valuable customers, we are able to identify CoStars and differentiate the service we provide to these valuable customers. Consider this:

Continental’s top ten customers, as identified by First to Favorite, generated $1.2 MM in the last twelve months. Individually, on average they spend over $100,000 a year on travel.

Can we afford to lose this type of customer?

The goal is to retain CoStars. We do this by offering a higher more personal level of service. We need CoStars to fly Continental often and exclusively

If you're a CoStar, the FA will greet you when you board the aircraft, take your beverage order if there's enough time, and bid farewell to you as you leave the plane. You'll get a pillow and blanket, and a meal if your flight is at meal time.

Wow, sounds like most of my CO flights in F — regardless of whether I'm a CO * or not.

Agreed. I am most certainly NO a CO* and I have almost always received the bits described. That's just because CO has generally good service, not because of the CO* program.

Just for the record there are NO benefits associated with being a CO-Star. It is simply an INTERNAL value metric based on revenue. The only time a "Star" should get any priority in relation to his/her "Stardom" is in the case of reaccomodation during irregular operations. CO-Stars should always be taken care of first. In the real world even that may not happen as most line employees can't readily see CO-Star status without actually looking for it.

I flew HNL-EWR and noticed the FA's bouncing around taking meal orders what appeared to be randomly. I knew there were a handful of non-rev's which would explain why some would be skipped, but when I asked how the meal orders were being taken, the FA explained they were asking *'s first (there were only 2 in the cabin) followed by Platinums, Golds, Silvers, everyone else, and then non-revs.

The non-revs were left with no choices, but it looks like everyone else got what they wanted. If this is a new trend, ^ to CO for at least having choices available to their most frequent fliers.

I dont know if this helps, but any SkyTeam Elite member excluding CO Elites have a star next to their name .... so perhaps this is the star you are referring to.

When I travel on Continental (I am a DL Silver), I have a star "*" next to my name, but my dad who is an OP Elite does not have a star, rather, he has the standard elite designation.

I think that the reference was about the passenger manifest; the document that only the FAs are supposed to see. A while back someone, I believe it was an FA, let us know that CO*'s have a star appended on this manifest.

Skyteam Elite's also have ST by their manifest entry - we know who the "Co-Stars" really are on the flight (and they don't always sit in BF).

This f/a should be written up! This is NOT the process as defined by CO-(front to back, left to right)-at all. Either CHANGE it and let everyone know, or stick to WHAT IS THE PROCESS!

As a plat-I pick our seats when I travel with my wife and kid based on the theory of front to back. Also-where do FULL FARE F PAX fit into this renegade f/a's hierarchy? We fly full F, and I would hate to not get our picks because of this.

I don't know that the F/A should be written up, but I don't like it. If I'm traveling with Plus1 and BL JR (plat and gold but not *) am I going to be the only one of the three to get my meal choice? The current system works as (at least in BF), they ask the meal choices sporadically (based on when folks get to their seat/get settled) and I've never *not* had my choice. I've always had my choice in dom F as well, but that may be simply coincidental.

I am confused - is it a CO defined process or is it your theory?:confused::confused:

Am I the only one that wishes this was a formal program like GS & Concierge Key? I found out I was * /hr last year, though I think I may be on the verge of losing it.

I bought losts of full Y tickets, usually to IAH. And a few full J tickets.
Mainly because it was last minute travel, no saturday stay.

We had to cut back this year.
