A COEX praise

Just a quick post to detail a great effort on the part of the local COEx staff.

about a week ago we were booked on a 7AM departure from SHV. Got up that morning and checked the computer..and sure enough, there was a 1 hour delay. This would have meant we would have missed our connection in Houston (and the EUA!).

At 545am I was on the phone with a CAL res agent about to request a rebook onto a AA flight when (beep - beep), the call waiting feature popped in. I noticed the call was a local number and listed as continental express.

I knew something was up and decided to tell the CAL agent that the local office was beeping in...we hung up.

The guy on the other end asks if I was me. I said yes. He said "can you get here by 605 or 610, we'll hold the plane 600am dep. for you." I said I'll be there at 605.

Fortunately, I had encouraged my wife to get ready a little faster and she was ready to zip out of the door.

We made it in great time without breaking too many speed limits.

ON the plane at 612 and pushback at 620. That flight only arrived about 8 minutes late to the gate at IAH.

At any rate, I thought it was a great story. Another reason why I have enjoyed coming over to CAL.

Are they perfect? No. Do they have my business? You betcha.

Did you ever find out why? Computer mistake, or did they fix the problem? Either way, that's fantastic that they called you and told you they would hold it for you. I had a friend who had no such luck in that same situation. They just left without him after telling him it would be at least a 3 hour delay, and no rebooking. He's pretty sour on CO for that whole fiasco.

i forgot that part...

yes.....i did hear what the delay was about.

turns out the 700am departure needed a check ride...that wouldn't happen until 650am.

We are an XJT maintenance base. The only sad part about it was that if they knew that was going to happen, shouldn't they have thought about that before 3am?

My guess is that the 7am crew had to do the flightcheck.

Just a very odd situation.

Which status are you? That's amazing (!).
ExpressJet has been and will probably always be my favorite regional (right up there with SkyWest). Republic / Chatauqua is going to have a high bar of reliability, aircraft condition, and on board service to meet.
