752 AVOD completion date??

am considering a trip to london in february, while the fares are ridiculously low.

id prefer the later return on the 752. however, i have no desire to even attempt to use the POS system alla the older PTV system.

does anyone know when the retrofit will be complete? ive used the new system and i do not want to go back.

my alternative would be the earlier flight on the 777.

thanks!

Looks like you'll be OK. Here's the latest:

All 757-200s are now equipped with 16 BusinessFirst seats. Winglet and eFX video system installations are expected to be complete in December.

Check back toward the end of the year as there will probably be an announcement when completed.

I think with the new video system in first that 757 is a better product. I know I know it has only 1 aisle but if you are in first who cares. I think the seats are better on the 757 then the 777. The 777 its like your on a slide all night long.

Where did you hear this? Last I remember hearing from CO Insider was that there were still 2 domestic-equipped aircraft that wouldn't be converted until after the summer season. But in any event, if one is flying a BF route on a 757, one can be certain it will be on a BF-equipped aircraft.

This came from company literature which I will sometimes relay if it's not sensitive info. In fact this kind of info would seem to promote the product. Maybe CO could send out periodical newsletters to FFer with interisting updates like this.

As to CO INSIDERS' statement, well, I don't know. Maybe he can clarify.

I think he's on vacay for the next week or so, so in the meantime, I guess we'll have to settle for "somewhere between 0 and 2 757-200s remain configured with domestic first class."

does this mean that all coach seats on the 757s will have VOD capability by December?

I appologize. perhaps i was not clear on my original post, but it was strictly regarding the AVOD on the BF equipped 752's. I have no worries that i may be stuck in a Domestic version of the 752 b/c as far as i have heard this has happened once or twice if not ever.

if i have a choice, over the the BF version of the 752 with the old system vs. the 777, id chose the 777. if i knew i was getting the 752 with the new AVOD id chose the 752 hands down.

again my question is regarding only the BF equipped 752's....

is there any info as to when the new AVOD retro will be complete? i would not even want to remotely risk the chance of getting the old 752 system if i had to leave 2 hours earlier on a 777.

if i knew the 752 AVOD system was up and running on all BF equipped 752's then i wouldnt blink an eye to chose that AC over the 777 or the 767.

i know this may irk people, but in my opinion, the best BF product with all optons included.... opinions on sleep, personal attention, privacy, size of AC, cradle vs. sliding, old AC vs. new AC, occasional fuel stops, etc, etc, is that the 752 with the AVOD is the best AC over seas.

if i knew they all had it, id chose that AC every time. granted, i cant sleep in bed, much less an AC, so the AVOD is important to me, although i really do like the capaccinos (however to the FA's dispise making them) on the widebodies. I even got one on a 767 iah-ewr run. that reallly chapped their nerves

Sadly just BF. Coach is supposed to have AVOD sometime in the next two years; however, when CO Insider gave this information there was a caveat that the timing was subject to change.

Based on current timelines, in December 2006 all of our 757-200 aircraft will be equipped with 16 BusinessFirst seats, complete with standard 110v in-seat power plugs and touchscreen audio video on-demand (AVOD). So, dlen111, as pptp stated earlier, it looks like you'll be in luck.

We usually don't promote improvements like this until they're completed. It's otherwise difficult to broadly manage expectations if and when timelines shift. This means it'll likely not be until December or January before we really start promoting it.

As ContinentalFan stated, the main cabin of our 757-200s will also be outfitted with in-seat AVOD, but at a later date. The retrofit process for this project is scheduled to begin in late Summer 2007 (which of course is always subject to change), and will take 1.5 to 2 years to complete the entire 757-200 fleet.
