The CO FAQ Development Thread

Updating

This here is a thread to help develop, add to, modify, correct and generally improve what we’ve got so far along the ways of “common knowledge” so that our new members and frequent guests won’t have to scrounge around threads of old trying to dig up old, and possibly inaccurate information.

When all is said and done the final product will look somewhat akin to the WN FAQ where questions are listed in the “main” post as hyperlinks and a simple click reveals the answer. But, in order to get the groups feedback on this (and keep things simple for the time being), I have listed it all as one mammoth post (post #3).

As you’ll notice, much is incomplete – hyperlinks are missing, questions are not answered, the formatting is a little off, etc. - and that’s where we need y’all. If you see something that’s wrong, worded poorly or think of something we just plum forget – please post it here on this thread. I’ll do my best to integrate within 36 hours to the main posting as well as note the update (post #2 in this thread) so you’ll know when its been updated.

So, if there’s a question we forgot (and I’m sure there are! ;)) or a factor overlooked, please post here and let us know. But please – post the answer or corrections too!

The idea is after a few rounds we’ll be able to hammer out the imperfections and generate something truly useful to the community.

With that said, CO 1E, irefrank, myself and the many others who’ve contributed to this along the way would appreciate your feedback and ideas on how to improve this.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and effort!

J.Edward

...and just for fun

What if I get the upgrade and the Mrs. does not?

Why ask questions that need answering? You and you alone worked hard to get that upgrade and the last thing you deserve is having to squander it on… what area they called… oh yeah, family members. Hogwash! You put your backside in that seat, order your preflight drink, snicker as the FA buttons up the curtain and send back the Sunday for the Mrs. (after you’ve eaten all the tasty toppings that is!).

Coincidently, you may want to have a divorce attorney standing by when you arrive…

What lavatories are best suited for “maritals” while airborne?

The one at the center front of the plane (note, don’t confuse this with the ones on the sides). Remember, chances are there’re at least two people already in there wearing kinky pilotesque uniforms so you may have to force the lock. And as always, watch out for snakes!

Speaking of snakes, what should I do in the event of snakes on a plane?
Contact Samuel L. Jackson ASAP.

What if I look young and I'm and elite?
Well for starters don't post on that @#%# thread. Wait about 20 years than ask yourself if you still face the same aesthetic difficulties you faced today. If so, I suggest you start marketing various bodily fluids as anti-aging products.

Two quick items - OnePass service center phone number is (713) 952-1630; and I don't think a * appears on the boarding passes of CO Stars, does it?

Good question... I do not know?

Perhapes a CO* could clue us in?

Olton Hall Aug 28, 2006 5:30 pm

This is a great thread with a lot of information. I do see one correction though.

Under Lingo (possibly other places)
EZ-Pass (electronic toll collection system) should Be EasyPass (aka sleezy-pass)

I would also add to Lingo
EQP: Elite Qualifying Point

I think I read in the website star thread that when a CO Star scans a boarding pass at the gate, if you can get a look at the reader, it will display "Star," or something along those lines. Other way to find out, of course, is to sneak a peak at the manifest.

Benjh Aug 30, 2006 10:58 am

How about something about the "my account" on co.com, with questions such as "how long for my miles and EQM to post?" (btw, I do wonder about this).

Update:

Guys and Gals,

Thank you for all the insights and updates you've either posted, pm'd or emailed. Expect to see an update on Thursday or Friday reflecting what you've sent me.

...I'd of gotten to it today but the boss is going out of town tomorrow and dumped a #@%$ amount of work on yours truly. Oh well, plus side of it is I'm going out of town tomorrow too! :) In fact, I've got a 3hr drive from IAH at 2:30am tomorrow (cheaper airfare.. what can I say :o) for an extended labor day weekend in PDX and I still have to do the laundry (as well as ponder why I'm fooling around on FT... but I digress).

Anyway, thanks again for all y'alls support and look for an update by the weekend.

J.Edward

CO Insider posted a couple of weeks ago that the CS 767 NRT-GUM flights are now EUA-able. Flights GUM-HNL still are not.

Look for a an update around thanksgiving and another one (which will hopefully be the last major one) around xmas time... it's the damn schooling! Keeps getting in the way of FT! :(

thenewflesh Nov 1, 2006 11:10 am

Kind of an obvious question, but why isn't this thread stickied? It would eliminate maybe 1/4th to 1/3rd of questions asked on this board. Nice job with the FAQ J.Edward btw.

theblakefish Nov 1, 2006 4:32 pm

Nice start...you might want to differentiate between CO DO's, Mini-DO's, and Micro-DO's.

That should get you a SSSS for life.

More accurate (and safer) answer to that question is the ERJ's Lav, especially on a long international flight IAH -> most of Mexico. Book seats near the back of the plane & go for it as beverage cart starts down the aisle.

Put up the first step of the FAQ.

Please use this thread to suggest and correct the FAQ thread.

Thanks :)

Sweet ^

How about a Presidents Club and partner lounge resource guide?

KENNECTED Nov 19, 2006 8:00 am

I didnt' see this suggestion, but what about merging some things from J. Edwards thread

Why is there no "G" listed on the Fare Code list ala COInsiders List?

nice job J.Edward, thanks for taking the time to do this.

Minor suggestion: Q and I are also discount fare classes (post #5).

Excellent job, Continental FAQ...if that is your real name!! :D

Just being devil's advocate here...if that's the case, then go ahead and PM (or post) the password for this username so I can make some updates. ;)

For the OnePass Service Center I always use the toll-free number: 800-554-5522 if you want to post that.

Pahdz Nov 23, 2006 9:44 pm

Just goin' thru the FAQ for the first time, great work.

FYI...the link for the COC (the word "here" I believe is supposed to be the link) does not exist in the "Flyer Talk Lingo" section

EDIT - nevermind...looks like those links are a work in progress

No worries on that. There's more on the way and anything that's in Maroon means there's going to be a link.

Under the Lingo Dictionary, you have Passenger Name Reservation. It should be Passenger Name Record.

Good luck.

TrayflowInUK Nov 26, 2006 1:22 am

It'd be useful to have a seating section of the FAQ. "How do I book exit rows" and "Is 45J a good seat?" and "I have 8 screaming kids, how do I get them seated in BF?"

Also, post #17 is titled "I receive the complimentary elite upgrade? (D.4)", believe it should be "Will I receive the complimentary elite upgrade? (D.4)"

Also might want to add to this post that EUAs might not automatically run for full Y fares and that you might need to call CO to get them processed into AU inventory. This goes for NW and CO elites.

vdostoi1 Nov 26, 2006 10:40 pm

Thanks, J.Edward for putting this together. Very helpful stuff. I beg to differ about calling OPSC. I have always called them toll-free by using the Elite Line. Of course, this would only apply to Elite customers, but here is my method. Call the elite line on the back of your card, say INFO PASS, enter your OP # and then say Operator. You will be transfered to OP service rep witin seconds (and not minutes like it takes if you call OP directly via the (713) area code) and you get your problem resolved with the same rep that you would have waited for a long time!
