FWIW, ZE tracks very closely to Z so tracking Z should give you a very good idea of whether ZE is available or not.
It is also worth noting that if you bought a B fare on a different carrier that might not actually map to B on Continental. Most notably is that Copa still uses the old fare structure where H is the second highest bucket and B is just a mid-level fare. |
I asked this question slightly differently in a different thread, so those who have seen the question, please bare with me: On CO, what are the PRACTICAL differences between their F, J, D, and C fares (besides price)?
(They all earn the exact same mileage, and from what I understood, though not much, they all seem to have the same refund, cancellation, change policies...) |

The rules on those fares are generally quite different with respect to things like refundability, changes, advance purchase, etc. Just as explained in the other thread. ;) Any reason you're not continuing the line of questioning in that other thread? |

lol, thanks sbm12. The reason I didn't continue it there was because you are one of the only people on all of FT to be able to answer question, no matter where I post them. If I remember correctly, I think you have answered all but one question I have ever asked. Seriously, you're the man! :D So for the rest of the "commonfolk", I figured this was a more centralized thread where a lot more people would see it than in a thread I started myself.
sbm12 can be voted "most knowledgeable person" (MKP??) on FT... at the CO forum at least! |
Post #48 should be updated
References to the Continental Travel Club should be changed to the continental.com Club.

Anyone know the seat pitch in rows 16, 31, and 32 in Y on 777?
|
Dear CO folks, not sure where to post this question. But, perhaps an issue to add somewhere on the FAQ.
I purchased a ticket on UA.com for a US-operated flight (UA codeshare). Will I earn CO miles? I am guessing the answer is YES. However, there are no mention of codeshares and mile-earning potential on co.com Seems like a real simple question. But couldnt find the answer. Thanks. |

You will earn based on the US fare bucket that the UA fare you purchased maps into. There isn't a published list of what maps to what that I've seen but coach is coach and first has levels within it. You also earn elite bonus RDMs based on the US schedule, not the UA schedule. That matters for Gold elites. |
Thanks SBM12!
Luckily, the fares map out to a mileage-earning one on US. It was one of those situations where a US flight was lot cheaper to buy on UA.bomb |
Has the FAQ been updated with the new day-of-travel mileage waitlist policy listed in the following thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...june-17th.html or has the policy from that thread been overridden by some subsequent policy? Thanks! |
For the section of GG/other helpful codes
Can we add the command for printing flight histories found here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13569899-post9.html And the correct commands to allow standby for an eariler flight without removing exisitng seating assignments found here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/13566297-post8.html |
Current AVOD Selection on 752
Hi, is there any chance of updating post #54 regarding the AVOD selection currently showing onboard? Thanks.

I drank too much on my last 752 flight to bother writing down all the titles. There are a lot. Odds are you'll find something relatively decent to watch or listen to. |
Regarding How do I get access to the Continental Presidents Club?, there is one access method missing, which is CO's agreement with Amtrak for ClubAcela.
Anyone who has obtained Select Plus Status in the Amtrak Guest Rewards Program automatically has ClubAcela access, and it is printed on the membership card that is mailed out when the status is obtained. Showing the card at a CO President's Club will allow the member +1 guest into the CO President's Club Lounge. Same day tickets on CO are NOT required for access using the Select Plus / Club Acela Card. Amtrak's description of the Select Plus program here confirms the access. As a side note, "Continental Airlines President’s Club members with a valid membership card or a Continental Business First ticket for same-day travel are welcome at the New York ClubAcela." |
Grammar tweak right at the top...
"Are they're any invitation only / unpublished levels within OnePass?"
Should be "Are there any..." :) |
Dan, That's there in the FAQ thread. Look at the index for it.

When you waitlist for a mileage upgrade, and there are several people in the Rez, it doesn''t say if you're prioritized according to the lower-level elite (like EUAs), or according to the elite level of the member whose account the miles came out of (like the co-pay).

The level of "Will my plane have..." threads is alarmingly bad. Can the FAQ crew do a post for this? Maybe it could include such things as 772 flat seats, 752 flat seats, and 738/9 DTV.

You might want to update with details on how the TATL points work, as I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with two OPSC agents confirming the programme details.
Your OnePass address must be a qualifying EU address (they didn't elaborate, but I think this might exclude PO boxes. Not sure.) 5/10/15 points for Silver/Gold/Plat 1 point for all fares (you don't get bonus points for F, apparently) You ONLY get credit for CO flights. Can be a codeshare (though I'd want to see it happen to be sure), but must be bought as a CO coded flight. If you change address mid-year, you get should get all back credit within 5 weeks. |
International Z
Hi All, i have an Lufthansa international Z fare, and i was wondering what booking class that becomes when flying CO domestically. i know with United, when im on a Z fare, and only 1st class is offered, im booked in to an A fare, and was wondering if this is the same with CO. ITA is showing Z fares for the domestic segments, even tho there is no biz offered on the flight just 1st.
Funnily enough, it seems to be showing some UA flights as Z class which i know is not right, as its a 320. thanks |

LH Z translates exactly to CO Z. I flew LH in Z at the end of last year and it showed up as CO Z - 100% RDM, 150% EQM.
what i would like to know is, if i'm flying a Z biz ticket international, LH/LX/UA/US and connect to domestic continental, what booking class will i be booked in seeing as there isn't Biz class, only a 1st or Y class cabin. On United, when i do this kind of flight, the booking class for the domestic 1st is booked in to A, Discounted first class. what booking class will CO put me in, or does it remain in Z. thanks |

Suggestion: add a few FAQ's on the rules for stopovers and open-jaw's on reward tickets.

I would bet that it remains in Z. CO has the Z bucket on their domestic flights, too, so they don't really have to map it to something else.
thanks again for the input |
Upgrade Hierarchy for Battle Field Upgrades
Upgrade Hierarchy for Battle Field Upgrades
There is one assertion here that is now wrong, and an ambiguity that interests me greatly. Note: ALL waitlists expire 24 hours before the flight. If you're an elite attempting upgrade with miles, and it has not cleared by the 24 hour mark, regardless of the kind of upgrade (domestic or international) it will not happen. So this is anecdotal, but I'm convinced that the mileage upgrade waitlists now dramatically influence the upgrade standby list after checkin, and determine battlefield upgrades. As for my unanswered question, I'm willing to risk the experiment: I am now offered a confirmed mileage upgrade BOS IAH, which waitlists IAH SFO. This will of course deduct 15,000 miles whether I clear the second leg or not. I would like to believe that I go on the PR-1 list for the second leg, at the absolute top of the battlefield upgrade queue, even though this is sort of a "Plan B" end run on capacity controls. (This wouldn't be so bad; Y and B fares are clearing now.) Does anyone know how this works, with a certainty that would permit a FAQ clarification? |
Important Waitlist Terms and Conditions
So I went for the westerly mileage upgrades, confirming on BOS IAH and waitlisting on IAH SFO. Here is the fine print presented to me:
Important Waitlist Terms and Conditions Immediate redemption is required. The service fees and mileage deduction for all OnePass upgrade rewards will be assessed at the time of request. If you change your mind and would like to redeposit your upgrade reward, your fees and mileage will be refunded upon payment of any applicable reward redeposit fees. What happens when waitlists expire? At 24 hours before departure, any waitlists that did not clear will expire. Upon check-in, however, you will automatically be added to the airport upgrade standby list for any flights that were waitlisted. The airport upgrade standby list will be cleared by a Continental airport representative at the gate once the flight has closed for check-in. What happens if your upgrade does not clear? For BusinessFirst upgrade rewards, all miles and service fees would be refunded, without a fee, if the BusinessFirst segment of the trip could not be upgraded. For all other upgrade rewards, miles will be refunded only when no segments of the trip could be upgraded. When applicable, service fees and miles will be refunded 7 to 10 days after the trip. How are waitlists prioritized? Waitlists are prioritized based on the Elite status of the OnePass member who redeemed the upgrade reward, followed by the time in which the waitlist was requested. I made and cleared a PR-1 list once before, changing flights on the domestic leg of an international BF award. I changed at the airport to the flight I would have booked had it been available, to avoid a forced stopover. So some parallels, but a different situation. Edit: I realize that a phone call is weak evidence, but I spoke with an agent that sounded quite versed in these details. She asserted that once one segment of a mileage upgrade clears, I automatically make the "PR" list for the remaining segment. Same with a misconnect; I make the "PR" list for the new flight. |
Fleet Change
The FAQ page should delete 737-300 from the listed CO fleet as Continental has retired that aircraft.

President's Club Access for Under 21
On the post detailing PC access, some important points should be edited/added:
However, I do not right now know all the rules concerning access to contract lounges, affiliate lounges, *A lounges, etc. in the USA. At international locations, where (most countries have a) drinking age of 18 and not 21, anyone with credentials over the age of 18 should have unrestricted access. |
Post #3 - AC now tends to mean Air Canada since *A. Haven't seen AC stand for aircraft in quite some time. Nonepass has also seen increased "disuse".
Post #4 - Should remove the "as of December 1, 2008". Post #5 - Delete the large note upfront, and the dates for travel before 2009. Correct the following: In other words if you paid for an L ticket and received an EUA to domestic first you will still only receive 50% EQMs (should be 100%). Post #6 - should be retired, or fully cross-reference #7. Post #13 - delete the earnings for flying after October 2009 and January 2009(as it is superseded by January 1, 2010). Might wish to delete the references to 'ticketed after october 3' though some tix are probably still out there prior to that date. Post #16 - Need to add Lima to the discussion. Post #17 - change "the multiple" to "there multiple" Post #17 - may need to update the aircraft listings (some all reconfiged, I think 733 retired) Post #20 - same comment as above concerning aircraft. Post #23 - retire/remove content. Post #26 - remove the "as of" comments. Consider aligning with post #4. Post #30 - delete the Delta SkyTeam paragraph and date. Update para 5 with new annual price and name of card. Post #52 - delete the "as of" dates. Post #53 - suggest changing EU to "countries in the European Union". Perhaps add hyperlink on European Union to the official list of countries. Post #54 - change as per FAQ update. Post #57, 61, 63, etc - let's message the OPs and ask them to remove content. |

If anyone can find out if there is a line number in the sonic reference for SDC that details this fact: Changes are only available for the exact origin and destination airport. Connection points may be changed provided the new routing is permitted by the fare purchased. this would be useful information. Had a phone CSR summarily deny my request to change routings insisting it wasn't allowed. |
Regarding Mileage-based upgrades and waitlisting:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...ml#post7374763 It might be good to explain what happens when a waitlisted upgrade clears. The CO FAQ says: "Upgrade is confirmed at time of reservation if a seat is available. Waitlisted customers are confirmed automatically once a seat becomes available" Will the passenger get a notification, or is it best to keep checking the status online? (great FAQ, by the way. Helps me a lot) |
Transatlantic Points
Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't see in the FAQ an explanation of Transatlantic Points - how they are earned, and what they do for you.
