Question Virgin Atlantic N Class

I have a question which I would usually be able to answer myself on continental.com but alas every button I click sends me to the United Kingdom home page!!

I just want to know if N class on Virgin Atlantic earns miles? I realise it won't earn EQMs but does it earn 100% redeemable miles? I ask as I've made a last minute decision to join some friends on a trip to SFO and they're flying VS. The cheapest VS fare I can see is N. If it earns miles I will book it, if not I may seek alternative transportation.

Thanks.

Looks like you get the miles. If you can book as a codeshare you'd also get EQM.

It was on the earn miles->partner airline page. I'd paste the URL, but it seems to be tied to my login session on co.com.

N class does earn miles according to the chart. Additionally, if the flight that you are on has a CO codeshare on it you will likely earn EQMs in addition to the 100% RDMs. The CO timetable show flight 8239 from LHR-SFO operated by VS, so there is a very good chance that you will get both EQM and RDM credit on your flight.

The main caveat is that VS flights earn zero elite bonus, so you on ly get base miles.

Thanks - that is good news, especially as Virgin only give x0.5 miles for flying club members and Delta give you nothing.

I know that if I book the flight with a CO code I get EQMs, the only problem is that the same flights with a CO code come in at double the price. However is merely having a CO code on the flight enough to earn EQMs, even if I book it under the VS code?

I took a trip with Emirates last year from LGW-DXB-JNB and I actually earned EQMs on the final DXB-LGW leg as it was a CO codeshare flight even though I had booked it with the EK code. Was this just an EK thing or would it happen flying VS?

Yes. If the codeshare exists, you will get EQMs, even if you're booked on the VS code.

It's an unpublished perk, so it may disappear someday.

Fantastic. Both flights have a CO codeshare attached so looks good. Would really like to use co.com though but then that is another thread

Can I book a Premium Economy seat as a CO-codeshare? Or is the codeshare only available for Virgin Economy and/or Upper Class?

No it's not - it's very clearly published here:

http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...ne/virgin.aspx

And not sure what you mean by 'perk' - this is no different to earning miles on any other CO partner flight (non-Skyteam). As long as there is a CO codeshare on that route, you earn EQMs for the flight when you're booked directly with the operating airline.

Ahhhh when I click the above link it keeps sending me to http://www.continental.com/web/en-GB/default.aspx

I have tried deleting cookies and everything and it still does it. It must somehow know I'm in the UK and deem me not worthy to enter the site. Why lord why?????????
