hi. can anyone suggest the best way to use onepass miles? I have 18000 miles expiring in 6 months time. While I am a frequent traveller on most Asian carriers - I am unlikely to be flying Continental again. Charity is the last option.

If you are/travel in the northeast corridor, transfer the onepas smiles to Amtrak guestrewards.

CO, NW, DL, AS are just the domestic partners, there are also a ton of int'l partners.
I would buy something via OnePass shopping, get yourself a few miles, and extend the expiry.

How about some magazine subscriptions. Since you've six months, maybe you could use some for presents over the Holidays. Assuming things haven't changed, there is a point where your name and address pops up; you could enter a different name and address and gift someone the Wall Street Journal for a year, as an example. I'd check the OPSC to see if using miles to present gifts to others is all right.

OP miles do not expire. Your account can be closed/suspended if inactive for 18 months (apparently an uncommon course of action) - but this is an easily surmountable problem.
