Price difference

Has anybody tried to price same itinerary on CO.com vs. NWA.com? I was looking to book a trip CRP- SIN this morning and on CO it priced at $3400 for an H fare. Same flights on NWA priced at $2400 in Y for NWA coded flights on CO metal (CO 2258, CO7, NWA 6 and return). I thought that was interesting. Plus I do not think it will qualify for low fare guarantee since on NWA.com the flights are coded as NW flights. Oh well. I booked on NWW and used some of my WP miles to upgrade.

I've definitely seen this kind of thing happening--for me, it occurs more often for DL. They have their own reasons for these differential fares, probably related to how each handles its inventory.

It's entirely normal to see different prices on the same code-share flights. With the exception of KL/NW which get anti-trust excemptions, the other airlines selling seats are supposed to be competing against each other on the fare, even though all seats are on the same plane.

From what I was told by their phone agents in 2003, CO and NW do not share the same inventory. Check the fare classes for all segments. CO's website pricing may have broken it as H-fare to NRT and a full Y from NRT-SIN. Also, CO has only 3 flights into NRT (EWR, IAH and GUM). NW has many more connecting options -- hence the cheaper option.
