After 22 years in Houston (and almost as many years in OnePass) my job is moving me to Boston. A cursory look at CO flights from Boston shows flights to EWR, CLE and IAH but little esle. I would like to stay true to CO but since I hate to connect and am spoiled by flying almost 100% non stops from Houston, not sure what I am going to do. Any suggestions from fellow Boston FTers on who to fly out of Boston or how to stick with OnePass would be appreciated.

True, but for BOS-EWR you earn 500 EQM for a very short flight. Makes a r/t to the west coast 6,000 EQM. Out of Boston there are not many options for non-stops if you want to be loyal to just one carrier/alliance.

I'm in the same setting. I mix and match, maintaining CO Gold mostly on trips to IAH, and through CLE to the midwest. However, for transcons, it's not worth connecting through EWR when AA, UA, and B6 offer nonstops. I just take whatever's cheapest for those. The higher status I could get by sticking to CO doesn't justify the pain of connecting at EWR. I therefore have 19K EQM on CO, 18K on UA, and 6K on AA so far this year. It could have been nearly 45K on CO, but it wasn't worth it.

Remember you do also have NW to DTW, MSP, AMS, and CRJs to MEM, and DL has a large operation at BOS, so you can still earn EQM that way. Also VS to LHR, AZ to MXP (and, seasonally, FCO), and AF to CDG. The transcon situation will be improved May 1 when Song goes away and DL transcons and nonstops to Florida earn CO EQM again.

Where do you generally fly to?

You will be happy to find that socially, culturally, and politically Boston and Houston are twp peas in a pod.

I used to travel to Houston with some frequency a few years back.

Two cities could be much more different.

The gals at the PC in boston are great. With CO you can fly thru IAH/EWR/CLE, and at least EWR/IAH it makes a lot of extra miles to the west coast. The problem with EWR right now is that the BOS flights are out of Term A, but I think they are adding the shuttle soon.

I would try to get a matching status with AA. They have a nice selection of direct flights from BOS. I wouldn't risk do connections at EWR. Life is too short..

I think this point can't be overemphasized enough. The Boston flights all land at Terminal A at EWR and unless you're going to DC you'll need to take the train over to Terminal C. This has become an issue after CO moved my flight from SAN to EWR back an hour and therefore now I only have 35 minutes to make a supposed connection at EWR. I think I'll have to settle for the taking the flight an hour later than I was supposed to..

Exactly... I wouldn't mind flying co ex BOS I'd route through EWR as much as possible and make use of my PC Membership much more...

Why not connect in CLE as much as possible? Better chance of upgrades on the BOS-CLE and CLE-xxx segments and no EWR delays/A to C switch hassle. Admittedly, CLE is probably only useful to you for west coast trips, as much of everything else is on RJs. Also, your flight times might be more limited. I think (although I haven't looked at the timetable recently) that there is only one morning and one evening flight to west coast destinations ex-CLE, except maybe LAX, LAS, PHX. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. This could change in the summer, though.

Flew through EWR last weekend. Since I had plenty of time with my connection, I completely forgot to check on the status of the airside shuttle. Does anyone have confirmation that this is up and running?
