CO Star

Today while traveling (First) from IAH back to the west coast I glanced at the manifest and noticed my name with an asterisk next to it. I asked the flight attendant what the asterisk next to my name signified. She explained that I am a CO Star to Continental. She wouldn't tell me exactly what it meant thought. She did tell me that it was good.

Does anyone here know exactly what this term means?

It means you give CO lots of $$. There are no perks of being a star, other than the occasional usage of your last name while addressing you...

I've seen it before next to my name as well, and never thought to ask....I just liked the idea of being a CO Star. I actually did a search as Cheap Elite suggested, but didn't find any threads discussing the "benefits" (or lack thereof) of being so labeled.

The only noticalbe thing I have found is that they do call me by name. I wish it would increase my chances at upgrades.

On a recent flight more than half of the CO Stars on board were seated in coach...

And as a non-employee of CO, you make it your business to find this out because...?

Reported to be the top 10% of revenue generators for CO. People enter and drop off it on a rolling basis.

Is there a reason you assume I went to find out this information? As I said before I can't help what a chatty FA gets into chattin with me about, I like to talk to the FAs and many times we get friendly and they comment on me from what they know and conversation about such things can ensue. I in no way make it my business to know, but if I find out - oh well.

Is this fact? I was a "star" once and I know im not a top revenue generator. I'm only Gold, but I do on occasion buy a "F", "Z", "H" or "Y" fare ticket.

That makes sense, since the time I saw it was after having flown about 4 "Y" fares in three weeks (2 intl and 2 domestic). Crud, and I thought it was because I was a nice guy.

Gee, I've only noticed a thumbs down sign after my name. What do you think that means?
