Caught Redhanded By CO.com Tech
I guess I can come clean now. As most know, I have no status. None in going on my third year now. However, I will make silver this year with already booked travel! Anyway, the coming clean part. My OP account aparantly had a "glitch" which I have taken advantage of at least a dozen times in the past months. Remember when we used to be able to do 24hr holds? Well I have been doing them ever since. Until tonight that is. I was booking my EWR-TPA for May and logged in. Selected "Hold this Resrvation." Went to the seat selector and an error screen came up. I went back, again same error. So I re-searched my itin. My $235 fair with the 5% discount was now $264 with the the 5% discount. That's $60 more total. So I called the CO.com help desk. Got a nice guy on the phone. He did a search and found I did indeed try to hold it. I was then asked "Why do you still have the hold option on your account?" I replied "I don't know, but don't change it." He laughed. I then asked him to give me bulkheads and he said no, but he would do me one better and give me the open exit row window seat on the 737-700. The one with no seat in front of you. He agreed to allow the hold to go through as well and gave me the confirm to call back by midnight tomorrow. Also, he waived the $10 ticketing fee if I should confirm. Well, for some reason I just knew whatever glitch was there was gone. For sure, I logged back on, followed the same procedure and guess what was missing from my screen as an option..."Hold this Reservation." Now I have to hope they didn't catch onto my premium seat trick as well. As he commented on the bulkheads I was able to reserve on two other itins on my record. That would really ruin me...

But a very good run of it! How I miss the 24-hr hold feature...

Just confirmed with my account...the option is now gone. Why CO finds it a priority to fix THAT while not fixing the award calendar function is beyond me...

I haven't had the hold option in a long time. As far as the award calender "glitch". I maintain that it is not a glitch at all.

how exactly is it different to "hold for 24 hrs" than to "pay with cash" and then log back in and pay later (within 24 hrs)?

He went on to say that he believes it a glitch though. I would assume most of us, especially Vincom who I know for sure has the card would have noticed this. So I guess for some reason I am one of the lucky few, or lucky glitched I guess...

I use the Chase card and have noticed the Hold feature pop up when making reservations earlier this year (in January). I'll pay attention next time Im booking and let you know what happens.

I just purchased a ticket 2 days ago with my Chase card and I did notice the option to hold the reservation, but thought nothing of it. I guess it is a glitch. Surprise, surprise. Not that it matters, I didn't hold it and just paid for it.

There's a trick I found to getting the hold option to show up when using the Chase offer. I figured it out a few weeks ago and it works every time, but you have to do things in a certain order or the hold button won't appear. I haven't tried it though since the OP was caught using it by CO's web people.
