2006 kit when

When will the 2006 kits be send out?

Bernoulli 777 Feb 2, 2006 4:15 pm

Look for Wed. Feb. 22, one week before expiration.

Weatherboy Feb 2, 2006 4:31 pm

New Card?

By the looks of the website, it looks like the '06 elite card features a new design.

rankourabu Feb 2, 2006 8:07 pm

I never got my 2005 kit since I just qualified in late Dec., so looking fwd to this one.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with CO mailing these to a PO BOX?

KebaNYC Feb 2, 2006 8:31 pm

No problem

There is no problem mailing to a PO Box. I have shipped mine to a box for the past 5 years.

too late.

these kits are being sent out too late - in my opinion. qualification for the new levels closed 50+ days ago. why not send them out early, so people have them - and don't have to wonder if they got lost in the mail?

Why do you need it? Your 2006 status is reflected online. What other confirmation do you need?

If you want to use lounge in a foreign country, they insist on seeing the
card. I dont know why, but they do. (even if its spelled out on the
boarding pass)

And in some places (again outside) i've seen the status is not
printed on the boarding pass and they need to see your card
for early boarding or the lounge.

I'd rather not carry an extra card, but I have to.

Having the Card itself is very helpful when dealing with lounge staff from other SkyTeam airlines (as a CO Plat card will get you into a SkyTeam Carrier Lounge when you're on an international itinerary on SkyTeam Metal). I once had to place a $1.50/min call on an international cell phone to get the OnePass Elite Desk on the phone to confirm that I was indeed a Plat in good standing so I could enter the ServisAir Lounge in Edinburgh (Back when Plats had lounge access in EDI...prior to the BMI Lounge switch). As my mailing address was in Edinburgh at the time, my Renewed Plat card did not reach me until late march, a good while after the expiry of the old card.

[EDIT] Looks like cpx beat me to the punch by a min or two

cpx Feb 22, 2006 7:50 pm

Last year, I got my card late and had to hassle with the lounge staff..
I tool a copy of my OnePass statement the week later, and it worked!
(At the lounge) Card arrived a couple of months later and one more card
a month after (I guess my request had a delayed reaction)

cova Feb 22, 2006 8:37 pm

CO is typically one of the last to mail out the packet. CO.com says you should receive by the end of Feb. That usually means they mail it by the end of the month. Wait until after the March 7 before you call.

This is very true. Even if it were reflected in a boarding card, like as in my case traveling on a Skyteam Partner - NW didn't really treat me very well as I was a CO Elite. From HKG onwards, it was crappy service all the way. No priority baggage tagging - NOTHING.
YOU NEED TO SHOW YOUR ELITE CARD. I didn't have one and that's why even NW kept asking me if I were Elite.

Other Plat members - even with NW - didn't get good treatment at NRT, because they flew "Economy" at the back of the big bus to MSP!

Yes, that card has power in it!

AA767Lover Feb 22, 2006 9:04 pm

Might i add - In places like Panama or Lima when I fly with COPA or Continental - service fit for a King! (Not Elvis).

AA767Lover Feb 27, 2006 3:28 pm

Okay, still waiting for the package, almost hounding my postal worker like a dog . . .
hahahah
either i should buy myself a leash or get a restraining order!

I have had exactly the opposite when travelling NW from NYC to Shanghai. I never had to show my CO Plat card, and was upgraded automatically to World Business on both legs of NRT-PVG on one trip in coach. NW even blocked out the seats all the seats next to me so that I could stretch out on the long run into and out of NRT, and they weren’t exactly empty flights. My CO Plat card stayed put all the way.

We're All Going to Be Non-Elite Come The Stroke Of Midnight!

Guys and Gals! A crisis is upon us!

It’s 2/28 and no elite cards have come – ergo when our existing credentials expire when the clock tolls it’s twelfth time tonight our cards, ALL our cards will have lost their magical powers!

CO, or more accurately the USPS, has only today to deliver the cards. If not, today than how will we be able to look at ourselves in the mirror tomorrow knowing we do not have our shiny blue/gold/platinum card?!

No rolling eyes or emoticons, but I still smell sarcasm. Are you implying that we should NOT equate our self worth to our airline elite status? You sir are a fool.

I was told the cards were mailed late and that the 2005 elite line numbers should be extended a week or so.

entropy Feb 28, 2006 12:09 pm

this is kinda ridiculous of them to send them so late, its not exactly rocket science, unless they are adding something, like luggage tags :)

kaboom36 Feb 28, 2006 12:12 pm

Have not received my silver card yet. Called nonepass yesterday, the package was supposed to be sent out few days ago. Only thing rep could do was confirming my shipping address was the right one on file. Still waiting......

cova Feb 28, 2006 12:23 pm

The packets are processed by a vendor. CO is notorious for mailing the packets out late. Check my earlier posting in this thread - I would expect them the week of March 7th.

From the picture on co.com under "my account" - it looks like the cards will have a new image. I would not panic. It is your onepass number in your account and on your reservation that counts.

Only issue many be international lounge access for Plats - but generally your boarding pass will show Elite status and it can be looked up.

cpx Feb 28, 2006 12:28 pm

its Feb 28th, no Platinum card yet!

Russell745 Feb 28, 2006 6:20 pm

Coming from the plastic guy - I can tell you almost certainly that somebody missed thier deadline.

I'm not quite sure who does COs cards but I do know who the card printers are in the U.S. and either the card printer/direct mailer or the plastic sheet supplier messed up.

I can see some major debits coming.........

J.Edward Feb 28, 2006 7:01 pm

Rats! No card for west Houstonians! :(

What are we suppose to do now? Print off our own cards from co.com

:p :D ;)

Basic members get paper. I guess we shouldn't be complaining.
And no, we don't get luggage tags. I asked them already.

Actually I'm pretty sure basic OnePass cards are plastics as well - just thinner.

Elite card = .030 PVC
OnePass card = .010 PVC

Flying EDI / EWR in Y, contracted security people always ask to see my card when using Elite Access check in (you go through a quick Q & A with the security guy before you actually go to the desk to check in, so the security guy is your first point of contact).

Use a Sharpie and modify the old one, this year in and effort to save costs Continental is really mailing us lajels to stick on the old cards we have so save them!

The labels were purchased at Staples - The Office Supply Superstore and were ran through the color laser printer at Smith Street, but then they ran out of toner and were already at toner quota with Xerox, so they had to wait t'ill now to order more; I hear the labels are quite stylish and were designed with the Avery Label Design Wizard available for free download at www.avery.com . They say on the label "2006 ___ Elite - Really this is the card!"

(I just couldn't help it) :D :D

I don't expect to see my new card until the first of next month. ;)

mbreuer Mar 1, 2006 1:29 pm

I emailed the OPSC today - got a reply apologizing for the delay and stating that I (we?) should be receiving them by March 15.

Now as to my theory:

They sent them all with $.37 postage & got them back.

Any particluar reason why everyone cares so much when they arrive?

redreusam Mar 1, 2006 1:40 pm

It's just the small things like this (which should be somewhat automated and a "no brainer") that makes you worry that if they can't handle this, how can they handle the more complicated items?!?!

In addition, we're crazed frequent flyers who have this huge blog...if we don't talk about it, who will!?!?

J.Edward Mar 1, 2006 2:19 pm

dupe

When requesting access to partner lounges they often want to see the current card regardless of what the BP says. In the past whenever I have used expired cards there was always trouble, but YMMV.

Why I care: I want a current card to access SkyTeam partner lounges without having to argue my way through the matrons.

Now, in the list of things I have to worry about, this is twoards the bottom. But, it's still on the list :)

Free drink coupons is the only reason I can think of. If I can't get an upgrade, I might as well drink away my sorrow.
