Dropping to non-elite :(
Well after 6 years of mileage runs and Plat status I am dropping to nothing. The arrival of my new baby in May has seriously curtailed my flying hobby. Got a quick question. I know my elite status will end but is it ending Feb 1 or at the end of Feb. Looked all over without success.

Your elite status either reduces a level or ends between the end of February, and the beginning of March.

I too am facing a big drop in elite status and it frustrates me a bit. I wish my reason was as wonderful as a new baby, but rather a couple job changes significantly impacted my travel schedule. After years of being gold and now platinum, I am dropping to Silver. Would I like a soft landing to Gold in recognition of my ongoing support of CO for my travel needs? Of course I would, but I am certainly not going to boohoo if I dont get it as I simply did not earn it.

Just wondering do CO ever award soft landings if you ask them?
I'm currently gold but will drop to nothing at the end of Feb. Yet if you look at my flying with CO over a moving year (ie. non calendar) I'd qualify for Silver.

It all depend on how close you are to sliver or gold. Hubby was comp'd a sliver one year. He was within 2000 miles of sliver. UA is very good about soft landing comps. I was gold on UA for years. I stop flying UA because I stop going to Aisa for business. UA keep me at gold status for 2 more years.

Just so I understand
Just want to be absolutely clear - I made Silver by July in '05 and enjoyed the rest of the year at that level. So, if I don't level up to Silver again by the end of February, I lose my silver at that point.
If that is so, I will regain it if I level up again, correct?
Any help? Thank you

If you qualified for Silver in July '05 (i.e., earned 25k miles from Jan-July 2005) you are Silver for the remainder of 2005 as well as all of 2006.

I'm dropping from the elite ranks too, however, I may be sitting in the front office for Express soon...

I went from Gold in 2004 to a non-Elite in 2005 as my flights became discounted EJ flights and fewer in number. It's a hard landing. It takes a few flights to get use watching all of the Elites board before you. The only soft part was one GA at a smaller airport I would talk to during weather delays knew I was Gold so she let me board with Elite (out of pitty I suppose). The other good part is you don't have the stress of wondering if you will get an upgrade. All you can hope for is the person in the seat next to you gets one and the seat remains empty.
