A quick upgrade question
I am by far the lowest on the totem pole for this, but just in case: I am traveling with a group on an L class fare as a NW Silver Elite in early Feb, IND-IAH-CRP-IAH-IND and was curious what bucket these upgrades come from? I think my best shot is the outbound on a 737 w/ 8 FC seats but even then I'm not counting on it...

Domestic upgrades are pulled from the 'R' bucket. This can be seen using the full version of the KVS availability tool and then using the Amadeus engine. Good luck.
P.S. I wouldn't expect an upgrade on IAH-CRP-IAH unless you know how to fly.

Thanks NHFL9, looks like it stands at R6 now on the outbound, R3 inbound. Is this the same bucket that NW uses?

Note that if you're travelling with on a group ticket where everyone is booked in the same reservation, you will NOT be upgraded even if a seat is available. If you purchased your ticket individually (i.e, you have your own confirmation number and the fare was a regular fare you could buy through continental.com or a retail travel agency) and are simply travelling on the same flight as a group, however, you will be eligible.

themicah--didn't know that. So I suppose its a mute point as we are all booked under the same PNR...I am guessing this isn't anything they can separate either, correct?

since if you call and ask CO, they may be able to split the reservation. I know they can split regular reservations that have been booked together. They might not be able to split up a group ticket that was booked at a special rate, but it never hurts to ask (and report the answer back to us).

themicah & others interested:
I spoke with an agent at the standard CO Res line and after a bit of the wait they had no problem with putting my ticket under a separate reservation so that it is now upgrade eligible. Thanks so much for your suggestion and I suppose this is good to know moving forward!
