I will be flying tomorrow afternoon on CO1712 SJU-IAH (N Class Ticket), and I will be turning Silver Elite somewhere over the gulf of mexico.

Business/First has 5 empty seats so far. I called CO tonight about possibly getting the status early so that I can be considered for an upgrade, the answer was an immediate "NO", in fact the CSR told me that he had gotten a bulletin the last week, saying not to comp elite status early.

My cousin who I booked for on this flight, changed to an earlier flight, and was offered an F ticket for $125 more because coach was close to being sold out(Maybe she told the CSR about her breast implants). I called CO tonight and asked about a possible upgrade, I was quoted $314 + $100 transfer fee. Coach is pretty much sold out on my flight -3 seats, and they could surely sell mine at the last minute if they were to upgrade me.

Heres the issue I have. My cousin has maybe 1000 eqm with CO(maybe 1000 miles altogether..), I have 23k EQM now, she gets offered a cheap upgrade, and I don't. I have purposely given CO my business (within my limited college budget) so that I can hit silver this year. This just seems like bad business to me.

Any advice from you pro's on what I might be able to do, does this seem right??

I agree with CO..Status is earned..not given..you will reach silver after you complete your flight..so then you will have earned it..seems pretty simple to me.

Simple? Yes, but pointedly harsh. The OP is going to reach Silver on the flight. I see nothing untoward about CO upgrading him a few hours early.

OP should called back and pray to get a sympatric agent the second time.

OR . . .. the OP member should read the earlier thread about doing the "Upgrade Flirt" with the GA. haha!!

Or you could get breast implants. Seems to have worked for your cousin.

Call back...I was bumped up to Silver and Gold prior to actually achieving it, although they refused multiple times when it came to Platinum...lol.

I'm guessing they bumped me because at each time I had multiple trips paid for beyind the flight that would give me status.
