DTW Terminal B construction
Anyone know what they're building next to the DTW B concourse? I've flown CO1089 DTW-EWR a couple times over the past few weeks, and there's this big pit in the ground next to B7. I tried searching the DTW airport web site, but couldn't locate details on the construction.
Just curious if anyone had info...
Thanks,
mlk

I was talking with a Mesaba manager recently and asked about the project. Here's what I learned. The B conc. is going to be doubled in size. They're going to kick the wall out, and expand it to the south. It'll take about a year to complete.
The C conc upgrade has broken ground as well. The first part will be to build part of the new 2 level concourse to the north of the existing C. Once the new part is up and running, they will close the gate on the west side of the current C, and build the new gates over the parking areas for the even numbered gates on the C conc. Once it's completed, they'll move in to the new gates while the tear down the old C conc. and install the jetbridges on the new building. The new C will be at the same level as the current B concourse. I heard it'll take approx 2 years for the entire project to be completed. But they told me that there will be seats and concessions in the new C, and that the WorldClub is going to be moved into the current waiting area, so it should be much bigger.
