First time using a reward ticket, help
I am planning a vacation to cancun for 2, but only have enough miles for one onepass travel reward ticket. Can I use my onepass FF miles to get a travel reward ticket in my spouse name and then purchase another ticket in my name to earn more CO onepass miles? My spouse does not have a onepass FF account. It is cheaper for me to purchase a second ticket outright instead of buying miles.
thanks in advance

Should be no probelem, especially if you are on the same flight. Then the OnePass miles will post to your account after your flight.
I think CO is patrolling Ebay, because I have seen several auctions for CO miles end early due to "item no longer being available."

Then again, what the hell do I know?

One thing's for sure, the way CO restricts availability of reward inventory, there shouldn't be any problem getting a paid seat in the lowest fare bucket on the same flights.

bigalan,
Others have answered your question directly that you can use the miles for your wife's ticket. Let me offer up 2 other possibilities:
Possibility 1: If you can make it down I-35 to Monterrey, you can fly Azteca from Monterrey to Cancun for 20K miles each round trip. Connections are decent: about 90 min. each direction in Mexico City. You can actually fly much much farther: Monterrey to Lima with a Cancun stopover for the same 20K round trip per person.
Possibility 2: at www.worryfreevacations.com you can see MLT charter specials on nonstop flights between DFW and Cancun. With about 2 weeks notice, you have a good chance of finding airfare for under $200 RT each. Check out the Hot Deals section.
Just a few thoughts. Good luck!!

OTOH, the IAH - CUN, (or is it Cozumel?, they are right next to each other) runs about $250 including taxes, believe about two week advance purchase.
Thanks for the tip about flying out of Monterrey though. Don't know whose miles I'd use on Azteca, but I'm always looking into flying further south on my travels.
