Does Ticket Re-Issue Dump EUA Eligibility?

Had a RT FLL-ORF-PBI ticket misconnect. I had CO drop that segment (flying SouthWest on my OWN dime instead), and the agent re-issued my original CO ticket MINUS the segment.

Now, afer it's re-issued, I've watched as the Platinum, Gold, and Silver windows have gone by with seats in R at 6, 4, 2 and now ZERO with no upgrade for the return.

This stinks!
The phone agents are clueless, so I'm trying to pin this down with the help of real experts: FTers.

Do you think it is possible the re-issue might have dumped my play EUA eligibility?
My OP number is still in there.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I don't think it's abjectly "dumped" but, rather, it's created an issue with the record that EUA just skips over you. It's happened to me before, especially when splitting up PNR's and stuff...basically, I shudder any time I have to make a change to a sticket that includes CO segments because, more times than not, I never end up being upgraded properly.

Where were you able to view "R"? I thought it was visible only by CO agents.

I had a ticket reissued over the phone, and had the EUA upgrade it not 5 minutes later (this was around midnight), so in my experience, a re-issue alone will not cause EUA problems. As others have pointed out, there may be other problems with the record (perhaps caused at the same time as the re-issue, but not as a necessary part of it).

Had this exact thing happen two days ago only one segment upgraded a couple of hours after the change and the second segment didn't upgrade until I got to the airport. So, I don't think making a change to your itinerary will drop you out of the loop on its own. But a few dropped key strokes from CS might.

It's been my experience that a re-issue doesn't keep EUA from hitting the record, but it does appear to impact the time in the record...which then may impact EUA. For example, since EUA is based on elite status / fare class paid / date purchased, if the reissue is 3 days before departure (when the original ticket was 3 weeks), you now let those that ticketed between the 3 weeks and 3 days ahead of you in the upgrade line.

I never thought about that point, but I suppose it does make sense. Consider the case of someone having something like IAH-DFW on a $200 no-change-penalty fare that they end up not taking and cancel prior to departure. Ten months later, they have this reissued for IAH-EWR and pay the add-collect. They would even keep the same record locator. In this case, should the ticketing date be that of the original purchase, or that of the reissue? The reissue date is probably most fair.

I did not see R, I called a trillion times to ask.

As for the flight, I never got EUA'd.
It really would be nice to see the EUA 'stamp' records to say "EUA ran-->Result: EUA successful, no R avail, pax ineligible, etc.

Oh well.
Last year I was 97% EUA. So far this year I'm only at 60% ouch!
Thanks for the input.

Oh man, I think you're right. I think that I posted something similar to this a couple of years ago. For me, even more frustrating than not getting a FC seat is a sense that the EUA missed you for some unexplained reason and never being able to get to the bottom of it. Also, without such recordkeeping, it's nearly impossible for anyone at CO to know either. I sometimes wonder if they have a problem that's larger than they realize because in most cases, they see that the FC cabin is full of upgraded elite passengers. But, robbing Peter to upgrade Paul definately leaves a sour taste in Peter's mouth.
