CO Change Fee Question

Anyone know of any exceptions to the change fee rule for ticketing? Just wanting to see about changing to a earlier flight with CO, and wondering if there is any way to get out of the fee..

Thanks...

Do you mean earlier the same day or an earlier day of departure?

If the former, just go to the airport and ask to be put on an earlier flight. There is no fee for this, but there has to be room, so if the flights are full/oversold, then you may have to wait until your original flight time. If you want to be sure to be on an earlier flight, then you would have to pay the 100 bucks to be confirmed on that flight.

In the latter case, it depends on your booking class, and the rules associated with that class. Most tickets will require a fee, but in some markets, even the lower fare classes are refundable/changeable. I recently bought a IAH-MSY booked in S class that was fully refundable/changeable.

Just want to get on a earlier flight in the day. Would like to know for sure that I can get on that flight, but to save the $100 it would be worth it.

Thanks for the input.

One thing you might want to check into is to see if there has been a schedule change on your reservation. CO will change your flights once for no charge if it causes a problem. However, there are two stipulations - one, there actually has to be a schedule change - don't call and say there was one (they will check for as long as necessary). Two, the flight that you are booked on must be moved later (that way you have an excuse for going earlier - if the flight was moved earlier than they would only move you to the later flight).

Good luck.
