someone please explain "switch at the gate"
Hi everyone, happy new year. Could someone please explain the "switch at the gate" for me. I think I understand what it is but not how it works. It would be neat to try, as I too have left CO.....

This refers to using your CO Status to obtain upgrades, then switching the FF # to NW to build status on NW.
1. Make your reservation using your CO #.
2. At Check-in, ask the agent to put your NW # in your record.
Be careful when purchasing CO Flights, not all fare classes earn 100% EQM's on NW.

unless folks have had a different experience lately, I think you run the risk of losing your NWA (or CO) upgrade if you remove the FF number whose status granted you the upgrade.
