A standby question
I have a trip on CO from DCA-DEN in January. My return flight is
CO 252 DEN-IAH (10:10AM--01:28PM)
CO 558 IAH-DCA (04:09PM--07:58PM).
I am thinking about standby the following flights:
CO 1006 DEN-IAH (06:35AM-09:53AM)
CO 40 IAH-EWR (10:55AM-03:21PM)
CO 817 EWR-DCA (05:15PM-06:23PM)
Do you think this is possible? Has anybody succeeded in doing this? Your opinions are highly appreciated.
Thanks

Is this for mileage purposes? I'd imagine they'd encourage you to get on IAH-DCA 358 at 10:40.
CO ground staff at DEN is awesome. If it can be done, they'll do it.

I don't know about those particular flights on the day you are traveling, but in general flying same day stand-by into and out of DEN on CO is rarely a problem. I did it twice this past week on flights into and out of DEN-IAH-DEN. Also, another stand-by option for you to DCA from DEN is through either CLE or EWR, skiping IAH altogether (I've done them all). If your wish is to get back to DCA early, the connection through CLE gets you there at 3:30 or 4:00 PM, IIRC. And, as JeremyZ has commented the CO people in DEN are quite friendly and easy to work with. If you want to fly the particular routing you mention I am sure they will try and get it for you.

Thanks a lot! I have three reasons for this particular routing:
1. More WorldPerks miles
2. Return to DCA early
3. Aboard on CO's 764
Hopefully, as you both described above, CO staff at DEN can help me do this.

You're NW silver, so you probably know this, but your upgrade chances are probably better on IAH-DCA than IAH-EWR.
BTW, I think McDonalds is the only "restaurant" open in the CO area of Terminal A on DEN at that time in the morning. I'm also pretty sure you'll be served an eggy breakfast sandwich in FC. Consider yourself warned
