Gold status

New flyer here... I will go over 50K required for gold status on my outbound flight. Can I count on gold benefits on my return flight 4 days later? That's a transcontinental red-eye, so gold status may be very helpful to get an upgrade. Any info how fast does it kick in?

Welcome to Flyertalk!

Yes, right when your flights post to your account (sometimes can take a few days) you will get all of the benefits a Gold Elite is entitled to. You may want to go online or call and check on your status a few days before your flight to make sure everything posted OK.

That's what I thought. I spoke to a silver-elite co representative last night and I was told that the gold benefits will start February next year. I thought this can't be right. Thanks!
