I assume this is the Spanish word for lawyer?

I'm not pressed for time at all...I don't believe in living my life like that(just my opinion). I have plenty of time to read/post during the day and/or sometimes at night while I'm on the road. I'm originally from Central NJ as well....refused to be stressed there...and now I've relocated to suburban San Diego where most are relaxed. much nicer!!
I still travel extensively....but have learned to use my time efficiently. I never even have to break out my laptop while flying...IPOD it is!!!
</font>
That I am pressed for time does not mean I am stressed (I am not). I push hard from Monday through Friday in order to be able to play on the weekends (which is not to say that I do not play during the week, which I do). Also, pushing hard is not that bad when you are enjoying what you're doing (which I am).

As far as stress in the big city goes, being in the New York metropolitan area does not have to be stressful -- all you need to do is keep your perspective and sense of humor, and not take yourself too seriously.

The number of hours that one puts into what he/she does to make money is irrelevant if that person enjoys his/her work and manages to balance it well with whatever else is going on in his/her life.

Si (that is the Spanish word for "yes").

Are you sure you live in Tempe? What ever.

Sorry if I got esoteric on you. I thought that the Phoenix area was far south enough to have a sizeable Hispanic community, but perhaps I was wrong (I only get out there once a year or so, and then I'm usually just staying for a night for a business thing, such that I don't even get a chance to play a round of golf). Anyway, I'll stop bugging you with the Spanish words.

And as for you, just cut it out, okay.

And don't call me "dude". Who do you think you are, Jeff Spicoli? Wiseguy.

Typical pompous New Yorker.

Ooooo, look at me, I'm a busybody. What's wrong with you people? Why don't you do this? Why do you people do that?

Dude! You need to, like, mellow out. The dude was, like, just chatting.

That said, I find the time because my job in the geek field has me online essentially all day, so I check in from time to time

Steve

[and yes, I *am* from the Valley and was attending Van Nuys High School when they shot 'Fast Times' there. So I can say 'dude' and be authentic]

Alright. My weekend has started early. I am no longer in tough guy, pompous New Yorker, abogado (that's the Spanish word for lawyer) mode. I'll chill and make nice.

No hard feelings to anybody. I thought I was litigating (what a great job -- you get paid to sometimes act like an idiot!).

Exactly. I enjoy my work. If I didn't, 55-60 hours would be hell. But I also pack in the non-work fun, mostly on weekends or long weekends I take (I have excellent vacation benefits at my job, which helps), and I fly away for leisure trips several times a year. It's easy to "live a little" (or a lot) out here even when you work a lot -- I live 2 miles from outstanding hiking trails, redwoods, wineries, etc. The weather is civil year-round for outdoor activity (ok, today it's raining, will take a cat in for shots and go visiting and dining and to a movie and prepare for next week's WBC trip vacation to Germany instead). I'm within 10-15 minutes of at least a dozen outstanding restaurants, more if I drive a little further. Concerts (rock, classical, or jazz) are easy to get to and I get to them on a regular basis. I'm constantly hunt for new and interesting things to do and do them.

Work hard and play hard, preferably in luxury, it's a wonderfully "balanced" lifstyle. The one thing I don't have that would make such a lifestyle impossible is children. With kids, all bets are off, as I can see with my friends (both male and female)

Now this thread REALLY needs to go to Omni!

I guess I just enjoy "playing" a little more than others...I don't have children either...I'm in the same boat as ERM...live in SoCal though....great weather....1/2 mile from beach...lots of great restaurants, shows etc... I love my work as well..and also play in luxury...maybe I like "playing" too much... I typically work about 35 hours per week...if that.

Que lastima! You were certainly not wrong, but The Zone has a larger contingent of English First enthusiasts than one might find in Puerto Rico.

Are you counting the time you spend traveling as work (or is it all leisure)? If your profile is any indication, you spend a lot of time on the road, which I'd count as part of the workday. Sometimes I work 1-2 hours a day, but it takes me 7 to get there and back, so it's really a full workday.
