How do I handle this?
My college age daughter was bumped from a flight after she was in her seat on the plane yesterday. They said no more flights tonight, put her up in a dirty motel, door locks were faulty, phone didn't work, cobwebs and mildew etc. She trekked alone to office four times, outside doors in the dark!! Had to be back at airport by 6 AM to be re-routed east to get west! Missed five classes and was offered no compensation.
Any advice here??

In a case like this, certainly one can write to customer service demanding something--but what is given probably varies from moment to moment. Know the minimums required of them by law before you call.

YES! Buy her a ticket on another carrier! Screw'em. Fax a copy of all of the pertinent information on this debacle now to customer relations and then follow up with a repeat copy of the fax along with the reciept for a new ticket on a competitor. Helps if the new ticket is a few bucks more too. It proves we are all not cheap B*stards like Gordo the blowhard thinks we are.
Given the previous treatment, ask them to provide you with a valid business reason for you to re-consider your decision to use another carrier for your daughters trips. Let us know what happens

Continental is an airline, not a child day care concern.
If your college age daughter can not hold her own and speak up for herself when conditions don't look right, or otherwise make her own arrangements instead of the allegedly abysmal accomodations Continental did provide, then perhaps her aptitude for flying in the first place should be considered along with seeking other airlines who might treat her better in identical circumstances.

Uhh, I know that this was posted in the CO forum, but I see no details in the original post that says that this girl flew CO.
Now, if we get some details of the flight (times, routing, etc.), how she was bumped (she was bumped after she already sat in her seat on the plane? Sounds fishy to me. This stuff usually only happens to non-revs). Also the name of the hotel would help.
After we get the details then feel free to jump down CO's throat!

Blow more money than necessary for an unnecessary second trip to just have something to fax to Continental? Good Lord, why?

http://www.mytravelrights.com/rights.cfm?si=2&ai=40 might help. How long prior to the flight did she check-in?

I have another question for you -- what if NEgirl books her daughter on US Airways. Would you approve?
