733 Question

My fiance is flying down to Jamaica for our wedding earlier than I am. I want to book her in F on the EWR-MBJ flight. The equipment is a 733. Does anyone know if those planes have the hanging closet? She obviously wants to hang her dress...

Thanks

Yes they have a closet in the first class section.

The 733 has a smaller half height half depth closet that won't even come close to hanging a wedding dress straight. Most FA's will allow you to hang it, but FC coats will take priority. You can either take your chances with it half hanging/half crumpling with bags possibly being set on it or place it flat in the OH bin and keep an eye on it during boarding so people don't set things on it.

Maybe if you can find a bag that folds in half and hangs from both ends it would fit better in the closet.

I'm no help but wanted to say congrats on the wedding.

By the way, I got married last year - tell your fiance that the hotel can probably work wonders with a steamer if the wedding dress gets a little scrunched on the plane (my dress got scrunched between the tailor and the wedding site). Actually, you should call the hotel first and make sure they have a steamer, then tell your fiance.

wedding dress? Isn't this a rather ridiculous question? Do you really expect expert answers? My God, it's gets more ridiculous by the day. Ship it down instead of waiting to find out if that particular crew and plane will "house the dress". Odd at best

Jersey City -

You know what they say about "if you can't say anything nice..."

You may want to stow the smart comments until you have been around a little longer...certainly not a good way to ingratiate yourself into the community...

Chill out dude. You are like 8 posts in and all I asked was if the 733 had a hanging closet. I didn't ask if the crew would "house the dress". I didn't ask if they would give us special treatment. I simply asked if there was a place to hang it on a 733 as opposed to stuffing it in the overhead bin. I will give you a pass though becuase I guess the thought of a destination wedding is tough to comprehend for from someone who lives in Jersey City...

Its not too bad in F. We went a few months ago to check out the hotel and I scored an EUA both ways at the 5 day mark and was able to get the companion upgrade to boot. We are going down this weekend as well and I got it again...

Shipping it?

at no point in my life do I expect to wear a wedding dress, but I'd take a little "scrunching" over the risk of it getting lost via FedEx or whoever would be doing the shipping.

Congrats!

Why not ship it DHL/UPS/FEDEX to the destination ahead of time? It's one less thing to worry about in the airport and if anyone could pack it properly a UPS or FedEx store could.

Don't ship the dress!!!

Nah. According to Murphy, if anything can go wrong it will. Not letting it get more than 15 feet away is prolly the way to go.

And, bigpoppa, congratulations - and be sure to bring your jammies...

Ya, begged my fiance to ship it and she refuses to let it out of her sight. I guess one of the rules of marriage is to pick your battles, so the decision is all hers. Thanks for your well wishes!
