Upgrade using NW mile

I'm trying to get an upgrde award on CO using NW mile (ewr - sin). Talk to the agent today and was told that if I buy ticket from CO. I would have to use 25k for ewr - nrt. And additional 15k from nrt-sin since it's a codeshare flight. Is this true? Does CO have availability website like NW (wpaa list)?
thank you

No, I just upgraded a CO ticket using NW miles 20k one-way for HNL-GUM-NRT-SIN including the NW codeshare flight (all considered one upgrade). In fact, if I didn't have a layover in HNL, I would of been able to upgrade the whole thing for 25k (though IAH-HNL was unavailable for upgrade anyway). As long as all your legs are in the right fare class and seats are available in R, Z or F (that's what agent told me they come out of), should be ok. Just call NW to request the award and they will handle the rest.

In fact, I really have to thank you for your post. I just assumed that for a CO purchased ticket, I would need to use CO miles and was waiting for enough to post to request the upgrade. You inspired me to call NW and sure enough it was done!, thanks

That's incorrect. It's supposed to be 25k as long as it's one ticket using a through-fare -- which it probably is. Give a call to another agent.

I recently upgraded to BF on a CO flight to CDG. When I called NW, they gave me the same story about needing to buy a ticket from CO, then call back to use my WP miles to upgrade. The CO agent I talked to told me that was wrong and that NW should have been able to do the ticket as well. I still don't know which is correct.

BTW, I ended up using CO OP miles (which I'd transferred in from my Amex card) to upgrade because they can't put you on a waitlist for BF if you're using WP miles, and they don't open seats for upgrading on a set schedule. The no waitlist bit seems a bit odd, but a CO agent told me that they didn't let WP miles users waitlist because NW won't waitlist OP miles users on their flights.
