Is there an IAH-CLL bus?

My cousin is starting school at A&M this fall. He plus aunt and uncle are going to my brothers wedding in NY. My aunt and uncle want to fly back early just so they can drive him to school. If he can get from IAH-CLL on his own they can take a little vacation in NY. I know he could just fly to CLL but the difference in airfare has them hesitating. Every school I have attended (Cornell and Indiana) has always had a shuttle service.

I don't have a good answer. Check this website. It mentions a $150 (!) shuttle. Maybe Greyhound has service. However, they may not let him haul a household of luggage since he is going to college.

In today's Wall St. Journal, there was an article about parents renting cars and letting their kids drive it. They said that nobody will catch them except if they get into an accident. In that case, the car rental company may make you pay for the damages unless the young man was signed on as an additional driver. If he is, there may be an additional charge.

There is Greyhound service, and it's $17.50 one way.

Shouldn't be a problem with luggage if flying to CLL was feasible other than cost.

Hi, Welcome to aggieland. I live in College Station and have some suggestions:
1. Greyhound isn't a good choice. The greyhound station in College Station is actually is Bryan (twin city of College Station) which is about 8 miles from Texas A&M University. So you need to arrange Taxi ride from the bus station to the university.
2. Check Hertz, Advantage ot enterprise car rental. The one-way rental is probably less than $80.
3.A&M had scehdule bus run from IAH, Check this website for more detail http://www.ptts.tamu.edu/transit/airport.aspx

Not only that, but the Greyhound station in Houston is downtown, a long way from IAH.

I'm sure that metro has bus service from iah to downtown. But I concur that it wouldn't be convenient.

Yes, dbaker, there is a Metro express bus from downtown to IAH, but I'm not sure it runs anywhere close to the Greyhound station.

Thanks for the help everybody. I guess i was a little unclear. My cousin will already be moved into college. Picking him up before wedding (labor day weekend) wouldn't be a problem since his parents are in Houston and CLL isn't that far. They were thinking about staying in NY for a week after wedding and just putting him on a plane to IAH, but he would need to still get to CLL. The only bags he would have would be clothes for weekend in NY.

I doubt renting is an option as he is only 18. Plus he has a history with driving and my aunt is very protective. I suggested that he just take his parents car which will be parked at IAH anyways and then pick them up when they return a few days later. My aunt didn't go for it. It probably doesn't matter as the parents are having doubts about taking time away from work anyways.

I checked the link provided for the shuttle service. Unfortunately he would need it on 8/31 and there is no service that day. I'm surprised by the lack of service. I went to Cornell which is a much smaller school but still had a shuttle to SYR. Even though there was an airport with limited service in town. Combined with the fact that IAH is significantly larger than SYR makes the lack of shuttle very surprising to me. I guess everybody in Texas really does depend on cars.
