Silver Elite changing?

I just received my RewardOne (CO Small business reward) program statement. One of the rewards is listed under the heading "Business Products" and is One year OnePass Silver Elite Status. What's intersting is that the description describes "special benefits" including:
50% Mileage Bonus on actual flight miles.
Unlimited First Class Confirmed Upgrades with the purchase of any fare booked in Y on Continental Airlines ... For fares other than Y, upgrades can be confirmed on the day of departure.
Isn't this last part a change? Are there two kinds of Silver Elites or is this a sign of changes to come?

I don't think this is a change. It seems like the wording for silver elite is always "the day of departure" for non-Y fares, but silvers get upgraded the day before.

Didn't Gordo say: "We will not reduce......"?

Don't troll. I concur that it was a bit off to make that statement and then immediately change international upgrades. However, you're going to sound beyond ridiculous if you expect some lifetime guarantee.

Please save your complaining and eye rolling for something slightly less absurd than rampant speculation.

Additionally, even if silver upgrades are reduced (which I don't even believe they have been), it would be to the benefit of gold and platinum elites. I frequently purchase non-Y fare tickets a day before travel and don't get my EUA until the 3-hour window because all the F seats are snagged by gold and silvers who bought cheaper tickets before me.

The reason for my initial post was that the CO rules state this:

Confirmed Upgrades from Discount Fares
When Elite members travel on fares other than full Economy (Y) or Northwest -26/-27 on flights operated by Continental and Northwest, upgrades are automatically confirmed as follows:
 • Platinum Elite -- 5 calendar days before departure
 • Gold Elite -- 3 calendar days before departure
 • Silver Elite -- 1 calendar day before departure

While as a sliver I sometimes get an EUA at the 3 hour mark -- or receive a battlefield promotion, I find that about 50% of the time I am upgraded at midnight the day before my flight, as per the rules in this message. This is not what the rule quoted at the top of this message would make it seem.
