child fare question.

I would like to know if the child fare is purchased when still eligible for child fare but when the child actually flies has already passed the 11th birthday, if he has to pay full fare.

any ideas?

thanks

I believe it is when the child flies that counts. Even if he was 10 on the departure date, and turned 11 after the return date you would still be required to buy an fare.

On international flights it is the age at the outbound sector that counts - on the return you can be over the age limit. I doubt it would have anything to do with the age of the child when you buy the ticket.

We were booking a flight with a lap baby turing 2. I asked if I could fly back on the actual birthday with her as a lap child. They told me no problem, sure you can do that.... and it would cost me the price of the one way ticket to get her home. Therefore we came back one day earlier. The flight date mattered not the ticketed dated. This was to Mexico so it may or may not count as international.
