"Ticketed" or Not?
Can someone please tell me when I am holding a full fare Y class on a paper ticket then I call and change it to another day CO says that I have to go to a CTO or ATO and have it "reissued"...
This prevents me from geeting in the queue to be upgraded until I make a special trip to the CTO. Is this true what they are telling me or can I force them to show the ticket as issued somehow since I havea ticket number and paid full fare?
THANKS!!

Are you flying on a route that only allows paper ticketing? (paper sucks)
But yes, you need to (re) ticket before they'll upgrade you. Fortunately, Y upgrades come out of A class for domestic so there's usually a seat available.
of cousre, ifyou're on a domestic ticket, why not use etickets instead?

I would do this:
1) Cancel your current reservation over the phone
2) Make a new reservation on line with an e-ticket and pay for it.
3) Get on the upgrade list
4) Refund your old ticket (send it in, CTO, or at the airport)

Or, ask the reservations agent to re-ticket it as an e-ticket over the phone. You must have the paper ticket in front of you to do so as you'll need to read the ticket number to them.
