Splitting a voucher?

I got a $350 voucher almost a year ago, and have yet to find a fare higher than $225 on the CO routes I'd fly. I checked the web site and there aren't any ticket offices in either end of my normal routes, so called WE_CARELESS2. They told me only a ticket office could split the voucher, and they could not do it over the phone, at the airport, or by mail....

I called the res line to find out where the closest ticket office *is* figuring maybe I could drive an hour or so to do it, and the agent told me they could split it at the airport here in MCI since there's no ticket office in town -- the airport counter *IS* the local ticket office.

Anyone have experience getting these things split? If they won't split it for me, I'm afraid I'll be forced into buying a > $350 refundable with no intention of flying, just to park the money....

this has been discussed before and quite recently, i believe. you can send it to Customer Care in Houston and they will break it down for you. i have done this twice in the past.

and, yes, the CTO's won't break the voucher down for you.

The problem is that it expires 4/29/03. Does that mean I have to make my reservations by 4/29, or that I have to have the flights ticketed and/or flown by then?

If just reserved, I probably still have time to mail them to Houston... know the address I send them to? Any person in particular there?

All my experiences with Continental certificates is that tickets just need to be booked by the expiration date, flights can commence after. I would expect your travel certificate to be no different than the ones I have used in the past.

every time i have sent my certificates to houston, they new certificates had a new one year expiration. having said that, i haven't waited until they are about to expire before i send them in. i am not sure how they would react to that. but, yes, you just have to buy the ticket before the expiration date. you don't have to fly by the expiration date.
